No administrative priviledges on a Dell Vostro with Vista O.S.

I have a Dell Vostro 200 desktop computer given to me by a relative. The O.S. is Vista business. I ran the system restore disk that came with the machine, and named myself the system administrator. However, when I attempt to install software (I'm logged in as myself/administrator), Vista tells me I do not have authorization to perform this action and to contact my network administrator. How do I get past this block and get Vista to recognize me as the administrator? It may be helpful to know that when I boot the machine, it first goes to a screen that asks me which operating system I wish to use, and shows two instances of Vista to choose from. The machine is NOT on any network.

Dell Vostro 200 will not connect to internet, what can I do?

check that the lan connection isn't disabled.
go into control panel>network connections.
I would disable it and then re-enable it, that sometimes works. if there is no lan connection showing then you need to download it onto a usb stick from the dell website and install it on the vostro. Product Support Dell US

Yes, wiping out you hard drive would be the best solution to the problem. To explain things, first, the system telling you that you do not have admin rights even though you are the admin, it can only be done by a virus (most likely, a trojan virus) that declines your admin previleges so that the virus can take control of the system, also the reason why there is a ghost boot residing in the dual boot (that should technically shouldn't have in the first place), get the idea? Anyway, to make the explanation short, hard drive wipeout is the permanent solution, then, you can install back a fresh copy of Vista (or XP if you prefer)...
