Page 157 of the User manual tells you about this. The video system settings are for connection to a TV and can be ignored. You should set the communication to "Normal" if you have installed the Canon G3 USB driver software on your PC. If you have not then communication needs to be set to "ptp". Note that certain file types cannot be transferred in the latter mode. It is best to keep the images as JPEG.

The picture is only black and white and is flashing on my computer screen. Sound is good.

Usually, this indicates that video source is PAL but the capture is set to NTSC, or that the video source is NTSC but the source is PAL.
Make sure that the video capture device is set to match the signal of the input.
PAL is used in Europe, NTSC in North America.
How you set it depends on the Video Capture software you use, but look for PAL/NTSC setting and switch it.

My philips dvp3560 will only playback in black and white

Check the TV System menu:

[TV System]
Change this setting if the video does not appear
correctly. By default, this setting matches the most
common setting for TVs in your country.
• [PAL] - For a PAL-system TV. (European TVs)
• [Multi] - For TV that is compatible with both
PAL and NTSC.
• [NTSC] - For an NTSC-system TV. (American TVs)

Also try:

[Picture Setting]
Select a predefined set of picture color settings or
customize the personal setting.
• [Standard] - Original color setting.
• [Bright] - Vibrant color setting.
• [Soft] - Warm color setting.
• [Personal] - Customize the color setting. Set
the level of brightness, contrast, tint and color
saturation, then press OK

Hi We had a power failure once and since then whenever we watch movies the picture is in black and white. Can anyone help to restore the colour picture. We have asked some people who experienced the same...

You must set your player's video system to your TV's video system. Go to menu>setup>video. Under video you can select either NTSC, PAL or the likes or simply select AUTO if available.

I have got a Canon Powershot SX100 IS, but when I connect it to the television to see the pictures they show on the TV in black & white. Can you help ?

  1. Press the Menu button,
  2. go to the Setup "Tools" menu,
  3. scroll down and select the "Video System" option.
  4. If you live in the US, set it to "NTSC" video format if it's in Pal. You may have to select Pal for television in some countries overseas. Either way, set it to the other option than you currently have selected.

That should do it.

Picture will not show

You might want to try the following:

1. make sure that the AV cable is not loose or incorrectly seated in both the Xbox 360 console and the TV
2. make sure that you have the correct AV cable for your TV, to verify that the AV cable is connected correctly to the Xbox 360 console and to the TV, disconnect the AV cable and then reconnect the AV cable to both devices
3. if you are using composite cables, do not try to set any HDTV settings because you may lose the picture
4. make sure that your TV is set to the same video broadcast system as your Xbox 360 console (PAL or NTSC)
Example:
- if your Xbox 360 console is an NTSC console, make sure that your TV supports NTSC
- if your Xbox 360 console is a PAL console, set your PAL settings to PAL 60
- if your TV has a type of picture compensation enabled, disable it
5. reset your Xbox 360 console
- Remove any discs from the disc tray
- Turn off the console
- Turn on the console
- As the console starts, press and hold the Y button, and then pull the right trigger at the same time
- The Xbox Dashboard resets the display settings to the default settings and then automatically restarts the console.
6. Do not take your Xbox 360 console or its accessories to your retailer for repair or for service unless an Xbox Customer Support representative asks you to do this

No video in my philips dvd622

The black and white picture is caused by only 2 things.
  1. You are trying to play back an NTSC disc in a PAL dvd player (or the other way around)
  2. Your DVD player is set to NTSC when it should be set to PAL (or the other way around)
You will find options for setting PAL or NTSC in the setup menu under Video.

Oritron no picture

Phase Alternating Line (PAL) is a colour encoding system for analogue television used in broadcasttelevision systems in most countries broadcasting at 625-line / 50 field (25 frame) per second (576i)
NTSC is the video system or standard used in North America and most of South America. In NTSC, 30 frames are transmitted each second. Each frame is made up of 525 individual scan lines.
You might try disconnecting all power from the system. unplug it.
disconnect the TV. Power back up. Maybe it will reset to factory settings. See if your TV will have a switch to NTSC.

Playing burnt dvds in black and white

Cause: You are trying to play a DVD with NTSC-standard on a PAL-videodevice. Solution: switch your video-device to NTSC-standard or to "AUTO". Explanation: I had this "Black&White" problem after I played a DVD which I downloaded from Internet. My video-device (beamer) was set on PAL and gave black&white pictures, but when I switched it to "NTSC" the problem was solved. Apperently the Sony DAV-DZ100 switches automatically from PAL to NTSC when needed.
