I bought an Apple Ipod Shuffle, 1st generation, on ebay. It has rock and roll and I can't stand that kind of music. I would love to reset it. Also do I need Itunes just to download my own music? Help! ...

You don't HAVE to have ITunes to sync your music to the ipod, there are a few alternative options for media players that have that feature. However, if you're unfamiliar with ipods and/or media players I do suggest starting with itunes as it pretty much prompts you through the process step by step once you've installed the software itself. My advice is to get comfortable with the ipod as well asITunes first, than if you don't like ITunes you can look into the alternative options.
As far as getting rid of the previous owners rock n' roll... Once you've installed itunes and plug the ipod into your computer, with the white usb cable that came with it, ITunes will walk you through a full on reset and you can setup the music & sync settings to your liking.
Here's a few links to help. Again, I highly suggest you start with ITunes until you learn and are comfortable with the device before moving onto a 3rd party media player.

I dont know how to install the firmware for my mp4 i really need help

Hello,

Do you have the CD for the SMPK8858 ?

Then put the CD into the CD drive or DVD drive of your computer and explore the CD, for the firmware update look under:
\Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0\setup.exe
1. explore or double click folder Firmware Upgrade tool
2. explore or double click folder ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0
3. run or double click file setup.exe: this will start the installation of the update software on your computer.

After the installation of the setup.exe file, run the firmware update program to start the update for your player.

Most Sylvania players will have a CD provided. When you don't have it, download the driver (a zip file) from Curtis:
http://www.curtisint.com/html/CustService/Manuals/SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER.ZIP
After the download unzip the file with WinZip or WinRar:
now look for the firmware installation program under
SYL_SMPK8858_DRIVER \ SMPK8858 \ Firmware Upgrade tool\ConsumerUpdate 3.1.2.0 \ setup.exe
Double click the setup.exe, the same procedure as when using the CD.

There is also a manual for SPMK8858 (a pdf file) online:
http://www.curtisint.com/html/CustService/Manuals/SYL_SMPK8858_EN.PDF

Ipod [?] mp3/mp4 player - lsd_9301_10

This player sounds thoroughly corrupt - if the 5 R's didn't work, then the only last thing you can try (probably won't work) is to insert he iPod, double-click on my computer, right-click ipod logo, and select Format - Fat32 (warning: this for PC's onlt, not MAC's).

I got a gpx MW3836 1gb mp3 player. i cant get any music on there from my wondows media player lists. my playlists songs might have been copy rights protected on it. i want toknow how to get my play lists...

Converting wma's to mp3 costs money unless you are getting the songs from an actual CD. Better to get an mp3-only music service like Limewire, Rhapsody Mp3, etc.

If you are using Windows Vista with Windows Media Player 11, you will need to follow these instructions.
Note: You will be able to download purchased/subscribed songs to the unit.

1. Start Windows Media Player 11 and then connect your unit to your computer. If you have not set up synchronization between your computer and this device, the Device Setup Wizard starts.
2. In Device Setup - Configure Sync, write a name for your mp3 player.
3. Click Finish. The window closes and the Sync feature in the Player is displayed.
4. From the left pane of this Sync feature, you can select from Playlists or Library and you will see the content of these folders in the center pane.
5. Select the songs or entire albums from the center pane.
6. Drag these songs or albums into the Sync List, which is the right pane of the Sync feature.
7. Click the Start Sync button on the Sync List pane.
8. Repeat steps 4-7 for any other items that you want to copy to your unit.

If you are using Windows XP with Windows Media Player 10, you will need to follow these instructions.
Note: You will be able to download purchased/subscribed songs to the unit.

1. Start Windows Media Player 10 and then connect your unit to your computer. If you have not set up synchronization between your computer and this device, the Device Setup Wizard starts.
2. In the Device Setup Wizard, select Manual.
3. Click Finish. The wizard closes and the Sync feature in the Player is displayed.
4. Select the Library option. On the left pane select Sync List.
5. From the left pane you can select All Music or My Playlists and you will see the songs located within these folders in the center pane.
6. Select the songs from the center pane, and drag them to the Sync List.
7. Click the Start Sync button on the Sync List pane.
8. Repeat steps 4-7 for any other items that you want to copy to your unit.
