Didn't work for me. Tried restarting several times and could never get the prompt mentioned in step 5. The alt f10 taps seemed to have no effect. Just coasted right through its normal start-up procedure.

Acerfreerecoverydisc

Create recovery CDs from the one you want the info transfered on. However this only works if the chipsets are exactly the same on both PCs. If they are the same model number PCs you should be fine. Go into the recovery options where you would do a restore the option to make the CDs is in there. Or just type restore in the search

IF the machine is just shutting down it's likely the power supply. If it's constantlly rebooting itself, it's a corrupt bootlog. If the machine is just "freezing" when it tries to boot, it's likely motherboard related.

Have you by chance downloaded a new Service Pack for Windows?
Try booting into safe mode and doing a System Restore (if possible), if not try taking out your RAM Module(s) and re-seating them (it). If more than one try re-seating each one separately. One bad module could cause erratic behavior.

Sounds like your Browser may have been either hijacked, or started a task that it never completed.
Download advanced system care and clean your PC with that to remove any unwanted temp files from explorer. Them run malwarebytes anti malware to be sure any malware is removed, if present and try again.
Both files can be downloaded for free at download.com.

Click: Start
Click: All Programs
Click: Accessories
Click: System Tools
Click: System Restore

Pick a "restore-point" that was taken _before_ the update was applied,
and restore your system to that previous date/time.

OR ....

Look under "All Programs" for a utility that will help you burn CD/DVD(s) to create a "Recovery Disk" set. Burn more CD/DVD(s) with all your "data" files (or copy all your data-files to an external hard-drive). Then, boot from the "Recovery Disk", to begin the process of restoring the "factory" settings.
