Pro-97 i have a pro-97 and it wont pick up anything

if the frequencies you had before were police, ambulance, fire ect. then they have all gone onto the new tetra digital system and so you will not be able to pick them up.

if its things like the coastguard, airband, amateur radio that you caan no longer pick up, then the scanner may be faulty.

From memory the pro 97 used to scan fairly slowly anyway, but if its scanning like REALLY slowly, say a channel every couple of seconds, then check the Squelch setting on the scanner

Check for power going to the seats using a multi meter. check the fuses also have found that the switches go bad due to broken or just corroded contacts in them.

This message usually means that the scanner has been cleared of all programming. Press the MANUAL key repeatedly to review channels. If 000.0000 shows, it means that you need to program the unit.

my husband had 1 of those.they do not work at all.

well if it does pick the drivers up then just install any webcam software search it on google..try also searching it Vista drivers on internet if none work switch you OS to Windows 7 .. better then Vista

not all scanners will pick up the same, the hand held can't pick up frequency as far as the other one.

download win97 software
then just pick up a cord at radio shack and let the software do the rest. also you may want to check out radireference.com

The signal received on scanners depends on a number of factors. The most important is the elevation of your location. If you are in a valley or have higher ground around you, this will screen signals from you and will reduce the number of stations you can hear.

Secondly, receivers vary enormously from one to another. The one you are using may simply be less sensitive.

Thirdly, the position and type of antenna is crucial. If you are using a directional antenna it will only pick up signal from the front and some from the back. An omni-directional antenna will allow you to pick up signals through 360 degrees. The antenna must also be as high as you can get it, especially if you are in a valley.

Some emergency services use repeaters which allow you to hear signals much further away. You may not be in range of a police repeater.

I have the same issue, was working fine, then the scan works but never stops on any freq. nor does the squelch make any sounds. The only sound is the key tones, I have reset the unit and tried new batteries and a different antena. still nothing? any ideas?
