Hi! Please try this. Remove the battery and press hold the power button for 10secs. while the battery is removed, this should reset the system and may resolve the problem. Put the battery again, turn it on and see how it goes. HOpe this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
I found that you can go to the start> settings > Network and dial-up Connections. Select the RT connection, go to properties. I tried setting it to optain an IP address automatically but it would not connect. I then entered a IP adrress that was available on my wireless network, the correct subnet and Default gateway and public DNS (4.2.2.1). Connected right away!!!!

Try start - run - type "cmd" without the qutes - hit enter. At the new black window type "ipconfig" without the quotes and hit enter. At the same black window you will see detailed ip for your (internal) ip connection, subnet mask and default gateway. Post me back these set of numbers to guide you further.

Kindly let me know the service provider with whom your dlink is connecting to. I'm asking this because I wan't to make sure regarding DNS server issue
You need to restart your modem and router if there is a router. Then make sure to use DHCP for dynamic IP address and DNS server on your notebook. Then renew IP address. If you are using a wireless hot spot of someone else's, make sure it is unsecured.
Hi there,
Thanks for the comment. I am not sure whether you have Windows CE or Linux gOS installed on the machine. Sometimes they sell it with gOS installed but at the manufacturer's web site the OS is Windows CE. You will see Windows CE on the start menu if it is installed.
If gOS:
You can check the settings in Exalt for your eth0 connection and see whether it is getting an IP address assigned by DHCP server on your modem or router.
I would check your network cable. Do you have another ethernet cable that you could use to test this?
I would also check your router to make sure that it is assigning or giving out IP addresses. Also trying running this command in your command terminal.
sudo ifconfig
For setting interface of DHCP, check the following post and the attachment.

For Exalt interface, check the following post.
http://beginlinux.com/desktop_training/g...
You can make sure your have installed the driver for your network card so it will be detected, your wireless network card should be there according to the specification.
Here is a description of gOS about all the features and where things are:

It will work with DHCP but you can also check your Internet Service Provider's web site and see what is the IP address of their DNS server and specify it there. That will make the machine easier by ignoring the steps to find it. Sometimes your modem will remember the MAC address of the previous machine connected to it so it won't connect your current machine and assign an IP address. You will need to restart it by unplugging the power for 30 seconds and reconnect it to the modem and do the same to the router.
If Windows CE:
Would you tell me the brand and model of the cable modem you are using or ADSL modem then I will send you the detailed steps.
Thanks.
You may need to reset your D-Link box by pressing the little hole on the back close to the power cord for 30 seconds and release it. The hole is really small so you can use a paper clip or a pen to stick into it. Then restart your notebook and see what happens. With the IP address, I can see you are not connected to your Dlink box correctly. Check the cable connection also. Maybe replace the cable too until you can see a light on your DLink light up on the port where you notebook is connected.
Just wondering if this issue was ever solved. I just bought one of these for my 2 year old nephew for an xmas gift thinking it was a great idea. right outa the box i had problems, beginning with this issue. Solution:
double click the WiFi icon on the desktop and click "ON" (or whatever the button says; theres only one option)...this will enable the wireless card. Then double click the wireless network icon on the task bar, in the lower right corner of the screen near the time. Click the last tab to the right (WiFi Info) and complete the info that applies to your wireless router/modem/hotspot.
Once completed, click on the first tab to the left and it should show your designated IP address if the info was entered correctly. You will now have wireless internet access.
The suggestion about turning on the wireless by clicking on....and then getting the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway as suggested by gimp420 (THANK YOU!!!!) worked immediately! Solved the problem!!!!
THANKS!

I am having exactly the same problem and am very frustrated with it! can't get tech support on the phone and they are not calling back either!!!
i am wondering if you ever got yours working..i am still having the same problem and am soooo frustrated! can't get tech support on the phone still and ofcourse they've not called back..i've even emailed them and no reply...just wondering if you have had any luck? i am about ready to just return the netbook and report digital gadgets the the BBB
The SYNET07526 that I bought would not hook up to the internet on my home router until I reset my password. My laptop sees the WiFi but not the net book. I reset my verizon router and chose anew password and the netbook saw it. I knew that it was my router because the first time I tried the netbook it hooked up to an open WiFi at my library that did not require a password. You can test this out if you want to by going to a business that has an open network such as Mcdonalds, Panera bread, etc.
I talked some with the people at Digital Gadgets today (they exist!!) Apparently this is a common problem with the wireless card when it sees 4 or more networks available. It has trouble concentrating on the right one or something. They expect to have a software patch available sometime in about 30 days, but for right now they suggest changing the router settings from WEP to WPA2. Sometimes that fixes it.

1
Refresh the page that failed to load. If the page reloads, you just had a momentary lapse in service that happens with most providers. Between each following step, try refreshing the page to see if the problem is resolved.
2
Check the page address you typed into the address bar to make sure it is spelled right. An error in the URL address could cause this error message.
3
Go to your connection settings and make sure the settings match those of your Internet service provider or local area network. Do this by clicking on Tools on the toolbar, then Internet Options. Under the Connections tab, click Settings. {To check your connection settings, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options. On the Connections tab, click Settings. The settings should match those provided by your local area network (LAN) administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).
If your Network Administrator has enabled it, Microsoft Windows can examine your network and automatically discover network connection settings.
If you would like Windows to try and discover them,
click Detect Network Settings }
4
Click the "Detect Network Settings" link on the Internet Explorer page accompanying the error message to let Windows try and find an optimum connection
5
call internet service provider for help.
Check if the wireless switch is on or not.
The bet will be to call the internet service provider.
Exact same problem, Sylvania netbook says it's connected but it won't get online. According to tech support it's a problem with the wireless card, because it's seeing an IP starting of 169.254.188.188 instead of a real number with a 193 beginning or something. I exchanged it for a new one, same problem. Obviously this is a software or setting problem somewhere in the netbook.
Any solutions?
