Gud day guys,, pls Im in dire need of help concerning my Hp dv4-1120us laptop. I used it last sunday for about an hour then shut it down only for me to switch it turn on tuesday and it won't come on, the light on the power button comes on den after like 5 seconds the musical keys blink and its all dead. I have tried every trick online and nothing. I don't have the money to buy a new motherboard if it is actually the cause. Pls, I hope you can help me find a solution. Thanks in advance. Susan, Dealing with overseas tech support people can be frustrating. If the laptop is only a few days old, you really need to contact them first.
Im sure its still covered under warranty, so start there first. If it wont boot, it could be a number of things. If you get no where with them, please post back and someone here will try to help.
There is usually a battery icon down on the lower right side of the screen next to the time. You can click on it and it will give you the time remaining on the battery. Thanks for using FixYa
Perform power drain ( remove all accesories including the battery and the power adapter) press the power button for 1 minute.
Connect the power adapter only then turn on the computer - try using for more than 1 hour. If the computer does not shut down then the issue is the battery.
Run anti virus software.
If problem still persist it is a posible hardware issue. If you are still in warranty you can call sony and they can help you fix the issue for free.

using the button to shut it down is not recomended, but if you do not have programs running that is loading/saving data, it should be ok, in some cases it could damage the computer, you should see if it is under worrenty and get it looked at or call tech support and see if they can help
