Sounds like what you got here is a lmap ballast issue, The ballast transformer is not lighting the lamp thus causing this to code on you.
Part can be found HERE
Kinda expensive to replace and would explain why the other bulb was new or looked new. People assume its the bulb in fact the most common issues with this tv was the ballast.
Good luck

Make sure that you have closed the lamp cover properly. The lamp has two doors, inner and outer covers. The inner door has a sensor that shuts down the tv if the lamp reaches a high temp and/or lamp door is not closed.
Yes. That is another possibility. Is the lamp coming in before the set turns off?
If you want to vote me down then you will no longer get help from me! See ya!
Buying used components may not be such a good idea unless you have no other choice. The ballast is one of the most hard working parts of a RPTv (it supplies around 400 volts to the lamp) so I do not recommend it. But considering the fact that this is a ratherold model it may be your only option.
I understand. Not a problem :)

Could it possibly be the ballast ???
No, nothing happens...this is what was happening prior to the lady guru advising me to replace the lamp. I tried to let her know that the previous lamp looked new. So I want to make sure I do not spend money for someting I don't need. I did check the covers and connections. Everything is fine. Just will not light up.
Hey, Thanks. That is what I wanted to hear. Have you heard of Discountmerchants.com ? They have slightly used ballasts for $ 69.99
Thanks !
Yes, I know . But I really don't want to spend alot of $$. This is more of a project than a need. I do thank you for your help. I had no intention of voting you down. I don't know how this fixya thing works.
