How to reset the lamp timer for Panasonic DLP TVs.

When you replace the lamp on a Panasonic DLP or LCD TV you will need to reset the lamp timer to zero for the TV to reset the lamp timer and extinguish the change lamp indicator.

There are two methods used depending on which model TV you have. The older units use the first method and newer units use the second method. You can tell which method you need to use by whether you have a PIP and/or SPLIT button on your remote. If you have them use the first method, if you don't use the second method.

Method number 1 (for older units):

Follow the procedure below. You use either PIP or SPLIT button depending on whether your remote has SPLIT or not. Some do not.

Perform lamp timer reset only when the lamp has been replaced. The idea is to know when to replace the lamp before the end of it's life when it could explode or short out causing a hazadous condition. If you reset the lamp circuit at any other time the replace lamp warning will not come on at the recommended interval.

Be sure the power cord is plugged into a properly grounded wall outlet.
Then, press the POWER button on the projection display or the remote control to turn the unit on.

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the
PIP or SPLIT button on the remote control at same time for more than 5 seconds.

If your remote does not have a split button you use PIP, if it has a split button, you would use SPLIT.

When reset procedure is complete, the screen on the TV will indicate that the lamp has been reset. When lamp time reset is finished, the LAMP indicator goes out.

Method number 2 (for newer units):

Press volume down on the TV and the zero button on the remote at the same time for longer than 5 seconds and it will reset the lamp to zero.

These procedures should reset your lamp timer and you will be good until the current lamp fails or the change lamp indicator illuminates again signalling that it is time to replace the lamp. Three to six years on average depending on how much you run the unit per day. Do not ignore the indicator. Change the lamp immediately to avoid further damage and expense or worse.

Thanks for using FixYa and for the great rating.

How to clean the filter

Good Afternoon Tad, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

First remove the bucket to reach the filter of your Frigidaire dehumidifier, FAD504DUD. When you locate the filter, pull it downwards. The filter can be clean by either washing it with clean water or using a vacuum cleaner extension hose. If you use clean water, please allow the filter to dry. Once the filter is reinstalled then replace the bucket. To extinguish the light simply press the FILTER button and your dehumidifier will resume normal operations.

Hope this helps!

Cannot turn the projector on with the remote control

Hello :

read the following paragraphs please :

1:Are the input and output vents blocked or obstructed in any way? That could cause overheating problem and what you see with your projector is one of it's symptoms .

2:Are the filters dirty or clogged? Most manufacturers will recommend filter cleaning on a monthly basis depending on usage .After cleaning the filter always remember to reset your projector .

3:Remove any extension cords, power strips and/or surge suppressors. Many current model projectors will not even try to ignite the lamp if they detect drops or fluctuation in voltage supplied to the unit. This is a safety feature to reduce stress on the lamp.

4:Pull the lamp back out of the unit, give is a brisk shake and reseat the lamp. Occasionally there is some buildup on the lamp contacts or filament during manufacturing.

5:Try removing and reseating the lamp, or to try another lamp.

6:Remove the lamp from the projector. Ensure that it has no cracks, discoloration or "smoky" appearance.

Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 03, 2008 Service mode info

Enter Service Mode: With the TV powered off (make sure it's off for a few minutes before trying this, or you'll wait for the customary cooldown period before anything happens if you turn the set off and try this stuff immediately), press and hold both the "VOLUME Down" button on the TV itself and the TV/VIDEO key on the remote control simultaneously for about 7 seconds (they say over 5 seconds in the manual). The TV will be turned on and it will have a screen full of status data atop an active TV channel.

Next, press the SWAP/STOP key on the remote for more than 5 seconds.

You should be taken to a screen that has " LAMP/FILTER/IIC" as a selectable entity. Press the Action key to select it and move to the next screen of info.

You'll see a status screen with the number of Service Mode Resets of the Lamp run time (I inadvertently reset my Lamp to 0 hrs after 95 hours of initial operation, and I'll show you how to avoid that in a minute). You'll also see Total Time, which I assume is total TV run time, Lamp Run Time, and Filter Time, all in hours.

You can backchain to the the prior screens with the Recall button on remote.

To exit this service mode entirely, you must turn off the TV.

You can also enter a different service mode menu to control a number of parameters, as I first learned from Doug McDonald at this link >>
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/show...hlight=pt40lc12 when I was trying to learn how to perform service mode color adjustments.

Depress the "Volume Down" button on the set itself while concurrently depressing the "Recall" key on the remote for about seven seconds, and you'll be taken into "Work Mode". At this point, you can press the Action key, and select "Information", where you'll not only see Input mode (as usual) but also Lamp Run Time (but not Filter time or total run time).

You can enter the more advanced service mode menu by pressing and holding the Volume Down button down on the set itself while concurrently depressing the SWAP/STOP key on the remote for more than five seconds. -- This displayed a Factory Adjust menu, with bunch of settings. See Doug's message for more details. (Do not press Vol Down on the set and PIP/PLAY on remote simultaneously, or you'll reset the Lamp time to 0hrs as I did !)

Unfortunately, the service manual does not describe all the tweakable settings in the Factory Adjust menu.......

Panasonic 50" LCD TV PT-50LC13

I did the following 'press and hold both the "VOLUME Down" button on the TV itself and the TV/VIDEO key on the remote control simultaneously for about 7 seconds (they say over 5 seconds in the manual)"

Will in the service screen I selected the number of hours of the lamp with the down arrows and the action buttons. Then I simply pressed and held the "down volume button" on the remote until the number of hours was 0. Then I turned the TV off, then back on and the message was gone. This worked for me.
