Amana top load washer completes fill water cycle then goes to wash but doesn't do anything. Both wash light and lid closed light stay on. I hear it click and a hum for for about 3 seconds but still nothing...

Does the lid lock? Also Could be the motor. Also could be the actuator that shifts transmission from agitate to spin. Also could be belt issue. Or maybe something wedged between inner and outer tubs. Call a professional unless you’re comfortable with checking all this out.

Why does my washing machine unlock itself in mid-cycle?

Sorry but I think you will have to call the repairman on this one. Hope it is still in warranty.

LID WON'T LOCK & LID LOCK LIGHT WON'T COME ON

I would suspect that your lid lock switch is faulty, or maybe it has come unplugged from the motor controller module. You can access this by removing the whole top moulding but I cannot remember now how to do this now. But it wasn't difficult. Hunt around and download a copy of the service manual and the IPB.

Unlocking your washer so it actually works.

If the green cycle light is flashing on then off, this usually means the cycle is paused. The lid lock should unlock when in pause mode, if not you will need to press and hold the "Pause/Play" button to clear the cycle completely, if there is water in the unit, it will drain first, then unlock the lid and be on standby to start a new cycle. The lid lock light won't stop blinking.

LID LOCK FAULT
Fault is displayed if Lid Lock has not moved into locked position or motor cannot be powered.
Lid is not closed completely due to interference.
Check for lock interference with lock striker.
Wash media buildup (detergent, lint, etc.) is preventing the lock mechanism from sliding.
Main control detects open lid switch when attempting to lock.
Main control cannot determine if lid lock is in a locked state.

Perform the following checks if the washer does not lock (or unlock).
1. Perform the Lid Lock test under Manual Test Mode on page 9. The following steps assume that this step was unsuccessful.
2. Check lid lock mechanism for obstruction or binding. Repair as necessary.

Whirlpool Fron Load washer. Can not unlock door.

There is a manual way to unlock door. I copyed this from the tech sheet.
Manually Unlocking the
Door Lock System
1. Unplug the power cord from
the outlet.
2. Remove the lower kick panel.
3. Reach up along the inside of
the front and locate the bottom
of the door switch/lock unit.
4. Located on the bottom of the
door switch/lock unit is a
tear-drop shaped tab.
5. Gently pull the tab down about
a ¼” or until a click is heard.
6. The door may be opened.

Also there is a test procedure you can run to check the door lock actuator.
DIAGNOSTIC TEST
The washer must be empty and
the control must be in the OFF
state before pressing the
touchpad sequence to start the
test.
Starting the Test Mode
 Close the door.
 Push CONTROL/ON (if present on
this model).
 Select the DRAIN/SPIN cycle.
Select NO SPIN by pressing the
SPIN SPEED touchpad.
 Push PREWASH OPTION four
times
within five seconds. (If
PREWASH OPTION is not present
on this model, press RINSE HOLD
four times within five seconds.)
C:00 will light up on the display.

Hope this helps.
