We bought a Frigidair 4.6 compact fridge in October 07. It recently started to smell. We clean everything, the racks, inside of the fridge and the odor is still there. Obviously when we unplug the fridge, the odor goes away. When I plug it back in, the odor returns. I'm afraid it could be some plastic part burning. Has anybodoy had trouble with this model and how can I fix it? I'm afraid now to keep it plugged in when I'm not home for fear something might burn. It's not dirty - I've cleaned every part I could find. Thx.

just put some charcoal and it will help absorbing the bad odor inside you fridge :) of you can simply clean it for an hour. but i suggest you to put a charcoal inside you fridge ..store it with plastic bag
clean everything including the drain and pipe at the back of the fridge
It is most probably a mold build up in areas that are not readily accessible including behind the door seal
vanilla in a cup is good to absorb smells in a fridge
PUT A BOX OF BAKING SODA IN REFRIGE AND 1 INTO FREEZER ALSO. BUT TAKE EVERYTHING OUT, MAKE SURE NOTHING SPILLED AND IS UNDER A DRAW ROTTING. IF ALL IS CLEAN INSIDE, PULL OUT REFRIDGE IN BOTTOM BACK IS AN EVAPORATOR PAN FOR CONDENSATION, SOMETIMES SOMETHING CRAWLS UP INSIDE GETS TRAPPED AND DIES.
YUCKY BUT VERY REAL
There's a filter at the back of the fridge honestly u wud not believe the stuff that it stores once u clean that the smell goes in a few days completely.
There are two reasons for bad smells. 1. Long time not being used. 2. Lack of cleaning inside compartment.
Solution: Unplug fridge. Keep open fridge door. Dip a dry cloth in soap water and start cleaning each and every compartment. Keep freezer door also open. And then clean with another dry cloth. Keep both doors open for nearly 5 hrs. It will be enable fresh air to **** the smell inside fridge. After 5 hrs close the fridge and run on empty for one hour. Keep food items after one hour. Please keep all food items closed vessel. Not only it's avoid odor but also be hygienic. If you use to keep fish items in freezer, clean fridge once in a week.(Spray roo spray in the room when you keep fridge door opened. Don't spray into fridge.)Helpful.
