LifeFrame is a program from ASUS and is found in the ASUS Utility folder in all programs on your start menu(maybe yours is called differently but check in that folder)

Hope this helps!

Ok, that's a "solution" for the total ignorant who don't know the basics for interacting with a PC (who don't know that a program must be lauched so as to process whatever task, and which shortcut should reside in the start menu so as to be easily accessed)...

However, LifeFrame isn't intuitive at all, nowhere can I find some visual cue regarding the face recognition feature (not at first glance) : isn't there a simple ste-by-step tutorial somewhere? Unfortunately I don't have time for trial-error experiments nor for guessing how some software works, especially when we want to use ONE of its MAIN feature...

My webcam night mode is turn off how can i turn it back on

Face Recognition Usually you'll find the webcam at the top and middle of the laptop screen. One unique feature included with the webcam on newer Toshiba laptops including the Satellite Pro, Portege and Qosmio models is facial recognition. Instead of having to type in a password when you open the laptop, you can set up the computer to recognize your face and automatically load your settings. b> Setup b> To access the face recognition feature on a Toshiba laptop, open the laptop to the registration screen and click the Face Recognition icon. Look at the circle that appears on the screen and align your face so that it fits within the circle, and then click "Next." At the next page, enter your name and password and click "OK." The next time you use the computer, click on your Face Recognition icon from the main screen and look at the webcam so it can recognize your face and load your settings. b> Night Mode b> If you're in a low-light situation you can take advantage of the webcam's Night Mode effect. To turn it on, open the Camera Assistant by clicking the Start button, and then select "All Programs."

Select the "Camera Assistant" folder and then select the "Camera Assistant" software. Once it's open, hover your mouse over the far left hand side of your laptop screen. This will cause a number of webcam icons to appear. Click the "Properties" icon, which looks like a box with a pen over the top left of the box. Click the "Night Mode" check box from the Properties window and then click "OK." b> Other Profiles b> You can also alter other effects and features of the webcam from the Camera Assistant. First open the Camera Assistant by clicking the Start button, and then select "All Programs." Select the "Camera Assistant" folder and then select the "Camera Assistant" software. Then hover your cursor on the far left of the screen until you see the webcam menu appear, and select the "Properties" icon. Then click on an individual "Profile" tab to adjust the white balance, lower or raise the brightness, or correct the colors. As you click on the adjustment, you should see the change reflected in the way the webcam is displaying on your laptop. When you've selected the settings you want, click "OK" from the Profile window.

Do not know how to activate or turn on the web cam. asus notebook thats all I know of what kind of computer it is

The webcam is turned on by the Asus software that came on the computer for the webcam. Also if you are using Skype or the video chat feature in MSN YAHOO or AOL instant messenger then you have to activate the feature for your particular messenger service through the tools section. Then it should work any time you try to video chat.

Hope this helps... Dale

Many webcams have a feature that allows them to track a face. the reason they have this feature is so when a person is on a call and they want to move around some, the don't have to worry about moving the web cam. this feature will follow their face so they stay centered in the picture. I have used it in the past but found that it does not work all that well so I end up turning it off. Its very possible that if you have not moved that much or like you said picked up the laptop, you might not have realized it was even on. My software had it off by default but yours might have turned it on by default.
I think you are not experiencing any abnormal behaviour from you webcam software. if you are concerned about being spied upon then you can simply put a cover over the lens. I do this but I do it so I don't accidentally have my face on a webex without manually opening the cover.
At the end of the day I think its a good feature but it does not always work well depending on the brand of web cam.

Normal 0 Double click on this site to dowload Manycam

http://download.cnet.com/ManyCam-Virtual-Webcam/3000-2348_4-10593500.html?tag=mncol

Manycam allows you to use your Webcam with multiple programs at the same time. Broadcast your Webcam video simultaneously on MSN Messenger, Yahoo, Skype, AIM, PalTalk, and CamFrog. Manycam also lets you to add cool live computer generated special effects and graphics to your video. Make it appear as if your face or hand is on fire with our "fire" effect. Pretend you are underwater, or make it look as if it's snowing inside your house. Add text, graphics, or your country's flag to your video window.
Version 2.4.30 may include unspecified updates, enhancements, or bug fixes.
Editor's review of ManyCam Virtual Webcam · 5.0 stars
  • "Stretch your webcam across many apps"
ManyCam is the freeware tool for you if you use both CamFrog and ICQ, or any other video chat program, and you want to use them simultaneously. It creates a "virtual" Webcam that replicates your currently installed camera. It then lets multiple applications access the video stream without conflict.
ManyCam is compatible with Yahoo, MSN, CamFrog, PalTalk, ICQ, Skype, YouTube, and more. Once you've installed ManyCam, you need to set ManyCam as the primary input for program that you want to use. ManyCam will automatically start when activate your Webcam through that program. The application includes a bunch of gimmicky features that let you change aspects of the background and foreground. You can map a new pair of cartoon eyes over your face, and they track pretty well to your movements, or you can show that your life is hell by replacing the background with flames.
There is an unfortunate toolbar that will install unless you opt out during setup, but other than that ManyCam is worthy of a Webcam Oscar for cool and useful tech.
Hope this helps. Bud

Web cam says to close other video streaming application before it can proceed but there are no applications open

I have an answer! I've tried many times to fix this problem on my laptop, even talking to two dell reps in the process(which was worthless). Finally I found the problem(for me, at least)- my webcam's driver was not compatible. If you haven't tried this already, go to your Device Manager, click the plus sign next to Imaging Devices, and select Integrated Webcam. Right click that and select Update Driver Software. I downloaded the latest driver it found and restarted my computer, and miraculously my webcam central was back to normal. I hope this helps you too!
