Laptop has power but won't boot up

There are three possible reasons why it's acting like that.

1. Defective AC Adapter or Power cord
2. Defective Motherboard
3. Defective Battery

First off, you need to isolate the part which causing the issue. Please follow the following steps:

1. Remove the battery and use the power cord alone in powering up your computer. If it goes well, then you need to replace the battery. If no go, then try using a different known good outlet.

2. Check the acer power adapter (the box) if there's a light lit. If it's green, then it's should be working fine. If it's amber or nothing at all, then there's a problem with it. You might need to replace that.

3. If the AC adapter looks good, then try to wiggle the cord so that you can check if the cord is properly connected to the computer. Usually, cords get loose and it causes problems. If it has this kind of problem, then you need to get a technician to check that for you because you might need to buy a new motherboard for that.

Please do the above simple steps, and let me know if anything happens. I hope this can solve the issue.

Hp desktop blinking green light won't come on

mine does that when it's in stand-by mode. I just push the power button and it comes on....

Assuming you've already tried that....push and hold the power-button down for 5 seconds and the power SHOULD go out. *IF* it does not, then disconnect the power cord in the back for 1min....then reconnect and try to boot. If it *DOES*, then do the same...unplug the power cord for 1min and reconnect and boot.

First of all I bougth a new power cord and connected it into my lap tpo and nothing came on, and I am trying to figure out why it won't come on.

Have you followed the Guided Troubleshooting steps provided on the HP Support web site?

These will take you through a series of checks and decisions to try to isolate the cause of the problem along the following lines:

1. Are you sure you are plugged in to a good power outlet - can you plug a lamp in and does it work?

2. Are you sure that you are using the right power adapter for this laptop, is it the original HP block supplied with the laptop or is it a replacement - if the latter, then does it supply the correct output voltage and watts required by the laptop.

3. Are you sure the problem is not just the laptop display being dead, i.e. have you tried attaching an external display, do you get any leds light on the laptop for power, disk activity etc?

4. Have you tried removing the battery from the laptop and connecting the power adapter with it removed to prove that the battery is not preventing the laptop from powering on?

5. Have you disconnected all external devices from the laptop, in particular docking station, printers, USB devices etc to ensure that no external device is preventing it from powering on?

6. Do you have another power adapter that you can try using - are there any lights on the power adapter to show that it is working?

Toshiba Satellite C655-S5082. Won't power on. Worked fine last night. Today it won't turn on. Plug it it and no power light. With power cord plugged in when I push the power button the light for...

Hi.

Take out the AC power jack and then remove the laptop battery. Plug AC power back in and see if the laptop will turn on. If it turns on let it boot the operating system and then shut down as normal, remove the power cord and reinsert the battery and again see if it will switch on. If it does then there has been a glitch with the battery. If it doesn't then there is a problem with the battery.

If the laptop won't switch on either with or without the battery then there is a possibility that the motherboard has developed a problem.

Good luck.

Lap top will not turn on. receives power from the cord and power supply, but has no indicating lights on the lower left part of laptop. was able to get the lap top to operate after removing and...

Measure the voltage at the terminals of the battery in the laptop. If there is no supply then the power section in the lap tops main board is faulty and needs a check.
However if there is voltage then the battery must be checked if this has failed to charge and is defective. check if the cord from the adapter is not short as it will result in DC power cut off.

The computer randomly turned itself off and won't respond.

Does the power adapter light come on when plugged in? Try a different outlet. If not power adapter is no good. Sounds most likely power adapter.

My lap topwill not turn on.

Try to check if your AC adapter has a light itself. If it the light is off. Then try a known good adapter. If the AC light is green, then try to wiggle the cord from the port and see if it ain't loose. Try to also check if the AC pin is not bent or broken.

Lap top not turning on

Try removing the battery, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. Plug in power cord and try to turn it on.
