My Epson 3170 won't power on. Where do I get a replacement power supply?

Try to reinstall the scan application on the computer

Press tabs within four corners of the scanner and careful remove the top of the glass scanner

you have either a bad power adapter (more common) or a bad mainboard.

test the connector with a volt meter and see if you are getting power, if so, bad main board, if not bad adapter.

power adapter is $32
main board is $49.

power supply is probably bad. cost is $35
or the main board at $53.

Sounds like the bar inside off the scanner isn't working properly, if thats the case then that means the scanner is bad and it would need to be replaced.

Only thing you can try would be to unplug the scanner for about 5 minutes and then plug it back in. Then turn it on and see if it can initialize properly. If it still cant then you know the scanner is bad for sure.

yes this option is inclussive with your epson scan program, learn to play with the different modes of the scanner ex: professional, home mode etc. usually these modes have these options.

having the scanner repaired will cost more than a new one.

Unfortunately the bulb on the scanner is not available on retail stores. Epson does not allow end users to take the scanner apart because they might not be able to put the scanner back in together because of the scanner's engineering design.

Turned off scanner. Rebooted computer. Turned on scanner again. Works fine now.
