Printer connected to a network, prints hours later.

Hi. Try printing from another computer and see if the problem remains. If not, the is probably something wrong with the first computer. If no luck, try updating the printers firmware. Here is a download link

Good luck.

Does not print from my computer

Try to do a test print using the printer utility installed on your computer and also check if the driver is properly installed on your computer and if not make sure that your printer is using the printer driver from your setup CD.

Hope that helps...........

IS LEXMARK WIFI COMPATIBLE

There are Lexmark printer models available in the market that are WiFi compatible. Please visit the Lexmark website for more information about Lexmark's wireless printers. You might find one that will suit your printing needs.
The Lexmark X7170 printer does not support wireless printing. It doesn't have a wireless network adapter to connect to your wireless network.

Prints garbage

You have a software problem there. You can try and clear the print job in the computer but more than likely its already in the printer memory and is going to print until its finished. I think you're going to have to let it run until its finished then go back and make sure your computer malfunction is fixed before you try it again. I know its frustrating...but it will eventually stop. You might want to re feed the used paper unitl it does. I'd say turn it off and on...but I don't think that will clear the print job..and you've probably already tried that anyway.

Odd behavior when printing

FrostPoptart -

An interesting issue. I think the driver may be causing the printer to 'misread' print jobs. I think installing the most current version of your printer's driver should resolve the issue; Rather than use the driver CD, however, use Lexmark's Driver Finder to locate your printer and download the most recent driver:

I hope this helps!

Wireless Connection

I have the same problem and I have exhausted all options that I can think of. Last night I reset the network settings for the printer and started over and at the end, after going through the whole wizard again, it spit out a new network page and looked like the problems were fixed. (was now on channel 11,used to be on 6, also said it was connected to the wireless network when before it said it was not). I got excited thinking it had finally connected, but when I went to print a test page I got the same communication problem error message. I just got off the phone with Lexmark Support and he told me it was most likely printing to the wrong port. When I go to my printers properties page, it is printing to USB001 (Lexmark virtual printer port), and he told me it needs to be on "Lexmark 1400 Series" port. I will try to create a new port tonight and hopefully I have "Lexmark 1400 Series" as an option to choose from.

Jeez this thing is exhausting. I consider myself to be fairly computer savvy and I have wasted 4 nights working on this thing to no avail. How do people who don't know their way around a computer handle wifi printing to the 1420??
