Is the movie a store purchased movie or is it a movie that someone copied and gave to you? Computers sometimes have problems reading or playing a dvd or cd that someone else made and gave to you. Try a store purchased music cd or store purchased movie dvd and see if the player plays it.
What do you mean download cd's and dvd's? You don't download them, you
simply put them in the drive and play them. If you purchased a music cd
or a movie dvd that you want to play or watch, then just put it in the
drive. The system will recognize it and automatically open Windows
Media Player for you to play it or you can open it yourself if autoplay
is not active.
Exactly what is it that you are trying to do?
If you are talking about putting a blank cd or dvd into the drive to
copy music or a movie to it, that's another story and will take a while
to explain. You will basically need to make sure your CD/DvD drive can
burn CD's or Dvd's. Then you will need some type of burning software
(later versions of Window Media Player will burn).
Click Start/My Computer and look at your devices. if your DvD/CD Drive
is listed look for RW which means rewritable (it can burn or copy). If
it say DVDrw it can read and write dvd's. If it says CDrw it can read
and write cd's. You can also look on the drive door on the computer
where you would place the cd or dvd. If it says Rewritable CDrw (it
can write cd's) or DvDrw (it can write dvd's). If it says ROM (read
only media), that means it can Read Only and not write.
If the drive is rewritable then the software such as Media Player will
allow you to go find what you want to put on the cd or dvd. You have
two ways of putting things in the software to burn or write. You can
copy and paste, or you can drag and drop.
Windows Media Player does not
support burning movies to video DVD discs. It does support burning data
DVD discs, which could contain music and video files. However, data
DVDs are typically not compatible with most home DVD players. Check
your DVD player documentation for details.
it's because you are using cd to burn the movies on to and not dvd. your dvd will only read movies from dvd. I know it seems like if you put movies on a cd it should read in a dvd player, but since its not on dvd disk, then it will not play.
check the player you use and make sure that all the types of music is checked for use, mp3's and any other type of file name that you use for your music, I personally check all the boxes in Media Player, and itunes to accept all formats of music. let me know if this helps..Steve, (somehow it looks like these box's became unchecked in error.
Try cleaning the lasers lens with an anti static cleaning wipe. I used " nice'n clean" that I had purchased from Walmart to clean my laptop screen. My dvd player started back playing after gently wiping the laser lens.
