Thank you for publishing the manual for this calculator!
Looking at the manual under 'troubleshooting', it refers you to Page A-4 which says:
The calculator won't turn on (steps 1–4) or doesn't respond when you press the keys (steps 1–3):
1. Reset the calculator.
Hold down the X key and press X. It may be necessary to repeat these reset keystrokes several times.
2. Erase memory.
Press and hold down X, then press and hold down both X and X, Memory is cleared and the message is displayed when you release all three keys.
Thing is I added the X's where ther is a blank in the page, as I suspect these were graphics of the keys in the original printed manual? Can anyone please tell me what these keys are?
Thank you David J Power
Hey Dave- take a look at the following link. I like to have the user actually look at the user guide instead of describing it. If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If this isn't exactly right or you need more help just add a comment and I'll be glad to help you further. Thanks.

Hey Dave , it's the end of the month and we are judged on our ratings. Plus it's my birthday for 34 more minutes (no lie) Do you think you could find it in your heart of hearts to change that rating to fixed? It would be GREATLY appreciated. I did do the work for you.
Jeff
Thanks for the update. Always glad to help!

Usually answered in minutes!
Thank you oldnovii!
Having the ACTUAL HP manual (now saved on my hard drive) nstead of FixYa's text version has enabled me to see which key's to press, which has solved my immediate problem.
Unfortunately, pressing the keys doesn't achive the desired outcome!
I have yet to replace the battereis, which will be my next step when I can get to the shops
Regards and thanks again DJP
Happy birthday mate, glad to honour your request!
and yes, you DID 100% answer my actual query, even if the answer has not solved my underlying problem (but that is in no way your fault!)
Hope you have a wonderful year

Just a followup
In the end it was the batteries, they still had some life but the HP seems to need really strong ones.
New silver oxide cells have restored my beast to life!
Thanks again oldnovii

I have an HP 32s and I can't get it to turn on. I changed out the batteries and that did not solve the problem. I accidently dropped the calculator on my desk and I believe that is why it is not working. Is there anything I can do?
Only 1 battery required, I seem to remember there was some keys I had to hold down when I changed the battery, but I cannot remember- can u help?
