Right click
on the my computer icon and select Manage. Click on storage to expand
the selections and select Disk Management by clicking on it. Do you see
a CD-ROM 0 DVD when scrolling to the bottom? If not your drive cable is
not connected, defective or the DVD drive needs to be replaced. Do you see a
drive letter assigned to the drive? If you do not right click on Change
Drive Letter And Paths... and click
on Add. Select a drive letter and click on OK. Can you
see your drive in my computer? If not click on Change Drive Letter And
Paths... and click on Remove
and OK to confirm. Right click on Change Drive Letter And Paths... and click on Add. Select a new but
different drive letter from what was previously assigned and click on OK.
If this works you have a conflicting assigned drive. If none of the above works
unfortunately the drive is defective.
