My dell inspiron beeps 20 times at sturtup

I wonder if you have a keyboard issue. Most times the constant beeping means the keyboard is bad, but it doesn't normally boot or revert back to 5 or 4 beeps.

On power up just get contant beeping won't boot

constant beeping sound is usually a key on the keyboard that is stuck. If it is not constant, like long, short, long beeps, that may indicate a problem. Let me know it is is constant or a beep code.

I have a Compaq Cq60-104TU laptop with 2GB RAM and a 250GB hard disk. Windows XP service pack 3 is installed in it. Off late, whenever I turn on the laptop, I get this loud constant beeps. There are around...

Computers beeps are caused by the power supply, system board, graphics/video card or keyboard.
Reboot your system with out the keyboard if it no longer beeps your problem is a couple of stuck keys on the keyboard.
If the beeping continues remove your graphics card and reboot your system.
If your pc still beeps the it is either your power supply or the system board.

Need to know the number of beeps. They're called beep codes. This page lists some of the Compaq beep codes and what they mean.

Constant beeping when powered up, no display

If the beeping is constant, check your keyboard for any keys that are stuck in the depressed position.

Constant beeping every 2 seconds

a constant beep indicates either a power supply, motherboard or keyboard problem.

If you know what you are doing then open up the case (turning off the power first of course and earth yourself by touching the case before anything inside it) and make sure all the connecters are seated properly and try a different keyboard if you have one.
