WinFax PRO is not compatible with Windows 7. However, FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 8.0 can also import WinFax data. More information is available here: http://www.getfaxing.com/faxtalk

Symantec WinFax Pro is not compatible with Windows 7, and so far no fix is available.

There are a few fax programs that are compatible with Windows 7, check out the following:

Snappy Fax 4

VentaFax

FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 8

Dear Sir I cant attach any file to my fax. When I press bottom to attach a file, there is nothing.

WinFax PRO requires Windows XP or earlier operating system. It is not compatible with Windows 7 or Vista, therefore, you cannot attach any documents with these operating systems.

I just got a new computer and when trying to load Winfax Pro I am getting a message that it isn't compatable with 64 bit version of windows

This message is normal, because it is not compatible with 64 bit versions of Windows.
If you are using Windows 7 x64 (or 32 bit), it will not work.
You may want to upgrade WinFax here: http://www.getfaxing.com/faxtalk

Hi...this program can run on windows 7.???

Yes it should because Microsoft has made its' operating system backwards compatible with all programs prior to it's development. However some hardware devices might not. Therefore you would have to go to their website to download an update. You can also check the Symantec website to verify this application will work with Windows 7.

Installed Microsoft Office 2003 and now can't attach files to fax I am using winfax pro 10.03

are you on win 7?

write back, i have included the below in case you fall into this cattegory

Don’t get duped into buying a counterfeit WinFax PRO 10 CD ROM. Here is how you can tell the difference from a “real” CD ROM and the obvious fakes. If you purchased your Symantec WinFax PRO with a box and manual, chances are it is the genuine item. If you purchased a “loose” CD ROM, usually referred as “OEM”, then you should check for the following:

How to detect a counterfeit WinFax PRO 10 CD ROM
  • Symantec never included the actual revision of WinFax PRO 10 (10.01,10.02 or 10.03) on the CD ROM. So, if your WinFax PRO CD ROM says “WinFax PRO 10.03′ its a fake. All genuine WinFax PRO 10 cd’s contain the heading ”WinFax PRO 10.0′
  • If you see text with “winFAX” or “Live Update” anywhere on the CD its a fake. The official Symantec trademarks are ”WinFax” and “LiveUpdate”, no other variations of this text should appear on the CD ROM.
  • Failure to capitalize ”symantec” and “corporation”.
  • An “All rights resverd” spelling error, or other spelling errors.
  • Incorrect font used for WinFax PRO and Symantec logo. The current Symantec logo is consistant across all software they produce.
  • Silver portion of CD is a (dull) matte finish, on the real CD it is relective (mirror surface).
  • To determine if the CD is brand new and sealed – geniune WinFax PRO 10 CD’s come in a white envelope sleeve that are sealed with a sticker that may have one or more of the following: a bar code, a Symantec 5 or 6 digit product code, a brief license agreement.
  • In most cases, manufacturer information is printed on the inner rim of the CD ROM of genuine CD’s. This is usually missing on a counterfeit.
  • Update patch 10.04 is not included on genuine CD ROMs. Any CD that contains the patch update to 10.04 is a counterfeit

Have re-installed WinFax Pro 10.03. At every system start up WinFax install program appears even though it's installed. Also when I attempt to Insert file from Word 2003 in the fax, I get an error message...

Goto "Start" in windows select "RUN" type in "MSCONFIG" press ENTER, Select "STARTUP" tab uncheck the winfax then select apply then OK. Now restart your PC, u should not get this problem now.

Windows Updates will not download...

Version 10.04 will not fix the problem with Windows Updates, and 10.04 will only update from a 10.03 version. Its not recommended unless you're using Fax Sharing and Windows XP.

Its possible you've overwrote some important system files in the process of copying files, but WinFax itself would not cause the problem.

How to create "Message Stores" in Winfax Pro 10

To create the message store folder: 1. Close WinFax and the WinFax Controller. 2. If you are running Windows NT, 2000, or XP, stop the WinFax service. If you don't know how to do this, read the document How to start or stop a service in Windows. 3. Using Windows Explorer, locate and then double-click the Symantec WinFax Pro folder. 4. Click File. 5. Point to New, and then click Folder. 6. Give the new folder a name (My Faxes, for example) and press Enter. 7. Close Windows Explorer.
