Hello again, We spoke about the Solara with the seeping head gasket....... There is a Toyota clearance event going on now thru 8/2. Do you think I should jump on that or wait until Sept. for year end sales? We need to get in as cheaply as possible as we dumped the price of a new car in that old sad story. What is the best site to find those base prices. I haven't bought a new car since 1992. Thank you, Joleen

Hello Joleen,
Clearance sales are usually very good ways to cut down costs but mostly it depends on the source of the cars to be cleared. Also end of year sales are also very good but as said earlier depends on the source of the vehicles. If the end of year sales are being run by reputable companies then i would advice the end of year sales so as not to have a repeat of the old sad story.
what you should avoid in buying a car is getting a refurbished car as most times they end up giving repeated problems. Clearance sales are usually made up of more refurbished cars than end of year sales.
The best site to get base prices would be yahoo autos. They give you a cross section of cars at the lowest possible prices.
Hope this solution is helpful?

So what I'm wondering is if it is okay to wait into Sept? Do you think the cars will continue to be discounted, or should I look at this first Toyota Clearance Event ?

Sorry for the delay in my response. Certain things should be considered
in making your decision, these are:

    - Your budget

    - The kind of car you intend to get

    - The source of the cars

let me know these and i can help you decide. Could also help you
research and make decisions. Hoping to hear back from you soonest.

Hmm sounds like you might have a leak into the cooling system such as a seeping head gasket.

Have a local garage do a leak test, and if they have the tools a coolant dye test, which will test for combustion gases in the cooling system.
