I can help you reassemble your tension control for your Singer Sewing.
I know that you can get exploded parts charts and service manuals for Singer Consumer and Industrial products from sites like this.
The exploded parts diagrams look something like this: (for this 261U41 model)
I suspect this is the type of document you are looking for.
To provide more help sourcing the information you are looking for, I require more specific model information on your sewing machine:
I hope that helps.

Hi
The top and bottom tensions of your Brother sewing machine must be in balance to make good-quality stitches. If the tension is not equal, the stitches will appear loopy on one side of the fabric, or the fabric will bunch up as you sew. A numbered tension dial usually is located on the top of the machine, which controls the tension of the upper thread. The bobbin case usually has a tiny screw which can be turned slightly to adjust the tension of the bottom thread. The bobbin thread rarely has to be adjusted. A balanced tension normally can be achieved by adjusting the upper thread tension dial.
