I accidently hit recall on my monitor settings. I now have a smaller veiwing screen with black edges

You didn't say which OS you're using but it sounds like you've changed the aspect ratio of your video signal. Different screen resolutions have somewhat different aspect ratios. The aspect ratio indicates the ratio of the number of pixels of width to those of height. For example: my video driver offers a resolution of 1280 x 960 or 1280 x 720 which would give screen aspect ratios of 1280/960 = 1.33 :1 and 1280/720 = 1.77 : 1. The latter would produce a narrower image. You can compensate somewhat by increasing your horizontal sweep voltage with your monitor menu. A better solution would be to select a resolution that more closely matches your monitor's screen size.

How to increase font size

You did not specify whether you have a Mac or PC that runs Windows (or even Linux, for that matter). These are the instructions for Windows 7:
To make the text on your screen larger or smaller
  1. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.

  2. Choose one of the following:

    • Smaller - 100% (default). This keeps text and other items at normal size.

    • Medium - 125%. This sets text and other items to 125% of normal size.

    • Larger - 150%. This sets text and other items to 150% of normal size. This option appears only if your monitor supports a resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.

  3. Click Apply.

To see the change, close all of your programs and then log off of Windows. This change will take effect the next time you log on.

I have HP Laptop HPG60-445DX PC Windows 7. I need to change size of letters back to original size-I dont know how

Display in Windows 7 allows you to make the text and other items, such as icons, on your screen easier to see by making them larger. You can do this without changing the screen resolution of your display. This allows you to increase or decrease the size of text and other items on your screen while keeping your display set to its optimal resolution.

Let's see how to change Display in Windows 7:

1. Click the Start and then choose the Control Panel option.
2. Control Panel window opens up. Click Display.
3. Choose one of the following:

Smaller - 100%. This keeps text and other items at normal size.

Medium - 125%. This sets text and other items to 125% of normal size.

Larger - 150%. This sets text and other items to 150% of normal size. This option appears only if your monitor supports a resolution of at least 1200 x 900 pixels.
Make your choice and Click Apply.
To see the change, Click Log off now and then Login again.

My writing is so small i can't read any thing on my computer because of this i can't read anthing you write back so can someone call me at 901-283-0239

You can increase the size of text by pressing control + or - buttons press control button first. Also there is zoom in the tools section and also you can increase the size of text in the control panel or the web page under tools sections of most browsers. If we new the browser or what you text is small in or even if it was small every where you can change the resolution size of your Windows. Win 7 you can incease text by going to control panel click on display once there go to where it says increase your text size. Not sure what your operating system is either. So assuming it is Win 7 I hope that this assists you. John

I install window 7 but my benq 15" lcd monitar's screen rosuation not competible. pls guide me how i increase the rosulation thnx

As for your 15" LCD BENQ Monitor, "1024 x 768" pixels is the Maximum Resolution
If you increase your screen higher than the Maximum resolution you get a black screen! because the monitor cannot support the resolution higher than "1024x768" pixels.

How to change your screen resolution Win 7-> Link

FYI
Here are typical resolutions for some popular screen sizes
19-inch screen (standard ratio): 1280 x 1024 pixels
20-inch screen (standard ratio): 1600 x 1200 pixels
22-inch screen (widescreen): 1680 x 1050 pixels
24-inch screen (widescreen): 1900 x 1200 pixels

Hope it helps.

Need to increase font size without effecting pixel clarity

The first step for optimal readability is to set your PC's graphic output to the native resolution of your monitor.
The Samsung 2033SW is a little unusual in this regard since it provides a matrix of 1600 x 900 pixels, which is not very common.
If your graphics board has DVI output, I'd also make sure to use a DVI cable to connect to the monitor instead of VGA.

Windows XP and above support a font rasterization technology called "ClearType", see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearType. This page also provides references to the ClearType tuner PowerToy for XP, which is available to Windows users at no extra charge. Windows 7 has a control panel for ClearType out-of-the-box.

If you still need to increase font size, you can increase it from the Display Control Panel, too, "Medium" font size scales to 125'%, "Large" fonts to 150% the normal size.. Changing the DPI (dots per inch) setting in the monitor control panel cannot be recommended since some software cannot cope with alterations here (dialog boxes or user interfaces with text in wrong places or sticking out of the window... yeeks.)

You can adjust the screen resolution to increase the size of the image to fill the screen.
Go to the Control Panel - Display - Settings and adjust the screen resolution to 1280 X 1200 pixels. If this still doesn't fill the screen then increase it further say 1600 X 1200 pixels even higher if necessary.
