Tried to get some one to tell me if I should repair or replace tv

Ask friend if broken when given to you. If not I would suspect the power supply is fubar..

They tell you not to even try to open up the works on a TV. There are sections in there that will give you a shock a number of hours after its turned off. My repair man said he knows someone that was near ***** because he opened the works up and never shorted the hot section out. Not worth getting hurt over. Repair people have special tools for that.

when the fuse always blown, it could be a shorted component at the power supply board or the main board was affected during lightning where in some of the component get burned then cause a shorted line.if you don't have an idea in any electronic repair just leave it to the trained technician to do the works. hope this can help you thanks for using the fixya.

has anyone had this problem? I was watching my sharp Aquos tv and all of a sudden I see a black line, then fuzzzy then black screen then a loud pop, now it looks like colors that sprawl out as if something exploded in one spot inside the screen and it looks like the inside screen is cracked. but nothing hit the tv. it just happend. the sharp people tell me that it cant be fixed or replaced. and they keep telling me i hit the tv! From 5 feet back??? I was watching it. he says..did you see anything strike the tv?? I was like, I am going to ignore that rediculous question because I was on my couch..and no one was in the room! he says the only way that happens is if someone hit it! OMG! i have only had this tv for 3 months and paid $2000 for it. why would I HIT my TV!! no one will help me. I have a master plan warranty on it aswell. they wont help me.

Try to find a local repair centre & ask if they can give you an estimate on the cost to repair. A lightning strike can cause either minor damage such as just an internal fuse blown or can cause severe damage which will wipe out entire circuit boards which can be a costly repair. In this case it's usually not worth repairing.

ok then, it sounds like it is trying to strike the lamp on some of these Sony projections it will keep trying to strike the lamp even though the bulb is no good. The lamp error detection may not be working correctly, there is a detector loop around the ballast and if it is not positioned correctly it cannot correctly detect a bad lamp. Try removing the lamp and see if it is physically damaged, if not it still may be bad and is the most common cause for a no error condition and no light problem.

Hello bkindle.....not a boat anchor YET!!!! Had similar problem with WS-55513 and it turned out to be a faulty DM board. There are 4 capacitors on the board that may have blown. If yo can solder, it is a pretty easy repair. I purchased a PDF manual for mine online to get familiar with the model.

Otherwise, you can expect to pay between 275.00 for a repaired board OR between 350.00 and 450.00 for a replacement board from Sears or Mitsubishi.

Lightning hits do some nasty damage to electronics.
Alot of times that type of repair is part of an insurance claim. The insurance company requires estimates and will repair them up to the cost of replacement.

If you arent dealing with an insurance claim on this I'd still recommend a professional estimate.
Lightning damage sometimes is confined to the power supply and once repaired could be fine bit in my experience most items that take a nasty hit are a write off.
