Pull out the hdd and format it in a computer in one single partition NTFS. Put the hdd back and upgrade with the last file disponible on Philips and enjoy again your device. Success.

I have a Philips DVDR3450H and I could not play a Sony Pictures DVD in it yesterday. Any ideas. Trying to play the film Grown Ups and it shows un as 'Not Supported Disk Type'

Probably you are playing a disk that is not supported on your "Region". Maybe that disk comes from Japan or Switzerland and you are residing in the US. You should check the level if it is supported to play in your country. This link might enlighten you a little bit. Hope this solves your problem.

Philips DVDR3450H. How format the HD?

Hi,
Found a document DVDR3450H_3452H_3460H_eurp FWUpgradewk635.pdf Describes procedure of firmware update and disc formatting. Some cut'n'paste from the document:

2. Preparations for new HDD
In the event when the set unable to boot up or recordings not stored due to an defective HDD, the HDD will have to be replaced with the steps describe below:
1. Replace the Faulty HDD with a new HDD.
2. Before connecting the new HDD on the Digital Board ,the jumper pin at the connector of the HDD is to be removed.
3. Connect the new HDD to the Digital Board.
4. Power up the set . It will open the tray and prompt to load the upgrading disc.(the upgrade disc is
the same disc under firmware upgrading.)
5. The set will display
“Load”.
6. Put the upgrade disc and close the tray and the set will show
“Copy” ……… “Boot”
7. The rest of the procedure follows the software upgrade given in 1B -Procedure to apply the firmware upgrade.
*Note : 1)Do not press any button or interrupt the main supply ,otherwise the set may
become defective.
2)When the HDD formatting is successful ,the set will go to standby mode.

Philips DVDR3450H Recorder does not record all of timed programs

When setting the record timer make sure that PDC / VPS is switched OFF.

PDC - Programme Delivery Control / VPS - Video Programming System is designed to allow for late starting or running programmes. Not all channels support PDC/VPS, so the recorder may be waiting for a PDC/VPS signal which isn't there.

Problem Recording HDD to DVD-R

Hi,

I had a few problems with my philips 3450 - I downloaded the latest software upgrade at www.philips.com/support , and my issues were resolved. Worth a shot...

Only other thing I can think of is you may have a faulty batch of DVD-Rs?

Best of luck!
