Some dells are preconfigured with a restore partition. I wouldnt know if your unit still have this. but try this

Upon Boot up. (when you see the dell logo) Press Control F11 and see if it brings you up to a menu that would restore your laptop to factory configuration.

Follow the oncsreen instructions and you should be able to reinstall it automatically

Assuming you dont have the restore partition anymore then you need to to do it the conventional way and that means having all those recovery disc (hope you still have them). Insert the first disc and boot from there.

Issues trying to perform factory restore on Thinkpad T500

Sounds like you may have bad sectors on your hard drive or the hard drive is just dying. You can try to repair them with hdd regenerator or use another hard drive.Viruses, age, heat and other factors keeps a hard drive from excepting data when trying to re-install or writing other data.Check the hard drive.

I am getting "system error"

Maybe its because of virus attack, install virus software or reset your phone, try soft reset first, but if its fail do a hard reset to your phone. It will erase all of your installed software but restore phone system back to factory setting, including restore system error caused by virus attack.

Hope this help.

My google chrome has downloaded but it says an error 0 x 80040204 i downloaded the file abot 4 times and still the same error pops up

If you have AVG virus software installed on your computer, try temporarily disabling AVG Resident Shield, AVG Link Scanner, and AVG Web Shield and then try to install Chrome.
If you don't have AVG installed, then try disabling whatever virus protection you are using and then try installing Chrome.

Hi,
you can get the drivers for your notebook here before restoring the computer back to factory settings.

You may also need to have the OS installer for the computer to continue with the restoration.

I have an Acer laptop to work on that has numerous viruses on it and I was wondering if Acer D2D recovery will remove them?

system restore vs system recovery:

a system restore will restore the system to a set point in time. this will not remove viruses.

a system recovery will reinstall windows to its original factory state by utilizing a recovery partition. this will remove viruses. however, it will also remove any data and software that has been installed on the system.

back up if needed but keep in mind that you could potentially be backing up viruses. especially if the user wants to back up music that was gotten from a peer to peer site such as limewire. this downloads are typically ripe with infections so do so at your own risk.

it is not possible to back up software.
