The chipset in the TV could be failing, I would say replace the bulb for the picture, however if you are getting no sound its safe to say the motherboard is probably toast. Projection TVs, and HD TVs in general produce a lot of internal heat. Over time it will damage the circuit boards, maybe time for a new TV!
Hello, As long as you can see and here the picture with no problems you should be fine. The tv's put it heat which make things expand and contract. Sometimes things creek and crack. I've had two tv's that do that. Don't hesitate to keep a fire extinguisher handy though along with some alarms.(houses should have these at all times anyways)
