My phone won't pick up and I can't hear it ring or anyone talk other than speaker phone

If you have not already, go into your settings app on the main screen and select Sounds

In the Sounds menu, set the ringer and alerts to maximum (you mentioned you cannot hear it ring)

Make sure the tab is set to ring and not vibrate on the left top side of the phone.

Make sure the volume is set to maximum by toggling the volume tabs on the side of the phone.

If all this fails to work, try a software update of the firmware, (you would be surprised how many problems this can fix)

Having done these steps, it is possible that the internal speaker is itself broken. Assuming it is a hardware problem there is nothing more to do other than to take the phone in for repairs.

I've had my tv for maybe three years. I turned on the tv this afternoon, and I have picture but no sound. Can this be fixed?

Certainly. The only question is how hard it would be to fix it and how much it would cost. First, if you are on a cable service, try another set to make sure it isn't a cable company problem. Next, ask if anybody has tried changing sound options. Maybe somebody set it to run the sound through an external sound system with internal speakers off. Another possibility, if you intentionally set the TV sound to go to an external amplifier, is a pet, small child or person cleaning behind the set has yanked the sound cable, or the external amplifier is not working as intended.

If you've checked all of these, tried an external sound system (a "boom box" with an auxiliary input will do), and you can see the volume indicator bar go up and down without hearing anything, then you have a problem with the sound demodulator inside the set. If it works with an external sound system but not the internal speakers, the problem is in the internal amplifiers. A work-around until you can get it fixed is to use the closed caption system.

I have a Samsung TXH1970. Is there any way to increase the maximum volume? Sometimes when I turn up the volume to maximum it still seems not loud enough. I have tried lowering the sound with the remote...

The audio section of our TVs is often combined in a single integrated circuit. You can buy these with differing degrees of gain and power and some sets are built to sell at a certain price level so cost-cuts are made in areas like this. There is not normally any internal controls that can limit or raise the sound level.
What you might consider: Check front and back to see if you find the standard 3.5 millimeter 'headphone jack.'
If so, check at any department store or computer outlet for a pair of 'stereo speakers' intended for desktop computers. These are amplified by an internal amplifier in one side and the other side is plugged into the main speaker. These sets are small and cheap; often under $20 although they range upward to $100s as well. If you just want more volume, these will provide it, but the cheapest are no 'hifi' by any means.
The link below to eBay will show you a typical set of these with a 3.5mm plug and the power ratings are at least believable; many are not.

BOSTON ACOUSTICS BA735 volume is LOWER than MAXIMUM LEVEL

OK, a few things here. First of all, what program are you using to listen to music? Some programs have an automatic volume leveling setting. If you're using Windows Media Player, it has one. Next, you should NEVER set any speaker/volume/amplifier knob to Maximum setting if you want to get any life out of your speakers. Speaker ratings are for consistent volume levels at a "clean" power level. When you turn any music source up past 80% you are pushing more distortion through the speakers that they cannot reproduce without self destructing. The human ear cannot hear this, and the volume gain is minimal. Next we'll talk about that your dealing with a combination of power levels compiling into an amplifier that may be taking in more than it can aptly amplify according to it's power multiplier scheme to increase the volume at the speaker level. If you've got everything maxed out, you're probably just pushing it all WAY too hard. All over exerted energy that is not being used productively will end up in generating heat and distortion. Those are your 2 biggest enemies when it comes to anything audio. Distortion tears voice coils and generates disruptive electrical currents, and heat destroys circuitry and components in amplifiers. The times where they jump up in volume, just look at that as borrowed time until they blow. If you want louder, get a better or more powerfully rated set, and still, NEVER turn it up past 80% if you want it to last.

Nuvi 205w

Is the sound muted? and I assume you have the volume set at maximum?

On the older Nuvi's you could try plugging in a set of headphones to see if you could hear audio. If you could, then that verified that the internal speaker is bad. On the Nuvi 2xx series there is no head phone jack so there is not an easy way to confirm if the speaker is bad.

From my experience is repairing Nuvi's I would say that your internal speaker is bad, provided all of the settings are correct. The speaker will need to be replaced. I can help you with that.

Best wishes,
