Are you sure your pc is not asking for a DRIVER for your current video card?
If you see anything on screen, you have a video card.
Unless you have installed some game or graphics intense program, and it is stating you need a better graphics card, I'd say you just need to reinstall the driver for your current card.
Go to dells support website:
http://supportapj.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=au&l=en&s=dhs
put in the service tag of your computer (on a label on the case or base of your computer.
confirm your model
under "Refine your results",
select your operating system,
then select video from the category list
you should then have a list of related drivers, each with a download button next to it.
Your model dell may have several different video cards available, you may need to download and try more than one.
once you have chosen the most likely driver, click on the download button next to it, then in the next window select download underneath the "download via your internet browser"
when you get the file download warning box, click save, and save it to the desktop.
Once it is complete, open it, or go to the desktop and open it, ie double click it and follow the instructions. after that you should be prompted to reboot your computer. either way, once its finished, reboot your computer and your graphics card driver should be installed correctly.
Hope this helps.
If you need help or get stuck, let me know, but please also supply the service tag of your system, and the exact message you're getting regarding the graphics card.

hope this helps.

Verticle lnes going thru monitor

Please be more specific next time you post a question, like telling us the model of the monitor and graphics card you use.

Now I can only tell you o check the monitor cable, maybe get a new one. If that doesn't help, either your monitor or graphics card is broken. Try another monitor. If that doesn't help, you definately need to buy a new graphics card. (or return it, if your warranty is still active)

Im trying to install agp...how do i disable the on board vga

Hi there.
Remember that if you are swapping from on-board graphics to a card you have to go into the BIOS and tell the machine that the primary graphics adapter is AGP/PCI Express.
Plug the VGA cable into the on-board graphics port, start the computer and enter the BIOS, tell the computer to use the AGP/PCI card as primary, press F10, save the changes and exit the bios.
The computer will try and restart so let it boot to post and turn it off, then put in your card and try to boot again.
Please post back if you need more help or advice.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

Graphics Cards causes computer to not display

Hi there.
I'm working on the assumption that the graphics card is a PCI Express card.

When i put my computer on is telling me no cable signal and it will not come on and all my connection are all in place

1 possibility is that it might be conflicting with either an onboard graphics card or a graphics card you have installed. Try taking out the graphics card (if you have put one in) and plug it into the onboard graphics card and see if it still gives the same prob. If it works, go into the bios and look for something that lets you choose between intgrated graphics or agp/pciX.

If you cant find it, email me and ill do the best i can to help you further.

Looking to buy a new graphics card

You have a PCI Express slot to put a graphics card in. You can get a bigger graphics card to install in the machine but the power supply you are using in your comptuer is only 300 watts. If the specs of the memory card tell you to upgrade the power supply if its blow x amount watts you will have to do that in order to not run into problems. The good thing about e-machines is that you can upgrade the power supply at the same time. Usually they don't cost a lot of money.

You might have to get one thats around 425 to 475 watts depending on what the instructions tell you. If the new video card you are using is running a fan for cooling, chance are it will need an upgrade.
