The clock is still working on our stove but we can not get the top burners to heat up and the stove will not work? Clock is on lights turn on when you turn knobs.
I have a 7 burner, self cleaning, glass top Kenmore stove. Exact same issue! Suddenly, (this has been a great stove for 2 years....the warantee just ran up) we have the clock, and oven and knob lights.....but the burners don't heat up!
We (by eye) looked at the wires under the top and all look like new. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. The hubby checked the fuses for the house. Hummm....can't figure it out!
Anyone know if there are fuses in the stove itself? Anyone have this problem before or have a solution?

If you have power to the stove as in the oven light works and the clock works but the burners and oven will not work you only have 120 volts coming to the stove. The stove requires 240 volts for the burners and oven to work. Check the service panel for a blown fuse. There will be 2 fuses in the fuse holder. One of them is blown. If that is not the case then one of the wires has come loose either in the service panel or in the outlet behind the stove. Use a multimeter to check the input voltage at the outlet.
you will need to replace the control board that contains the clock readout, any power surges ruins these electronics instantly, this can be replaced by removing the rear cover on the back of the unit and remove screws securing the electronic module
barring an issue with your erc, you may want to check that you have 220 at the plug
most of your functions work on one leg of the 220
usually including the top elements, but if you happen to be wired backwards this could be your issue
Is there any sign of life? Does the oven light come on or does the clock work? Just for kicks, go and reset the breaker - it should be a double breaker for a 220V appliance - sometimes half will throw and still leave 110v that will run the light / clock.
clock works because its only 110 volts.all else is 220.as a repair man the firstplace i would check is the cord.[power off]why there first the installers dont know how important it is for those cord screws to be very tight.consequintly the leave them looseish, and thats where they burn.if thats ok.make sure you have 220 there at the cord.God bless you,tom
Oven was working, I had it on pre-heat, then I turned on the stove top, but the burners won't heat. When I turn on the stove top the stove makes a short BUZZ noise and the clock area lights up, when the burner is turned off all the lights go out. Please help, food prepared.
Thank You
From what you are describing, the power to your stove is incorrect. The diagram indicates the voltages that should be present at the receptacle, I suspect one of the 110 volt legs is bad at the receptacle or circuit breaker. The clock operates on the good 110 volt leg. The burners need both 120 volt legs to be good because the burners and oven need 220 volts to work.
MY OVEN IS WORKING, THE STOVE TOP DOSEN'T. tHE CLOCK SHUTS OFF WHEN i TURN THE BURNER KNOB OFF AND WHEN i TURN ONE BURNER ON THE CLOCK FLASHES 12:00 AND THERE IS A SHORT BUZZER SOUND COMING FROM BEHIND THE PANEL. CAN I FIX THIS MYSELF?
