There is often a microswitch placed in the middle of the paper intake between the rolling knifes to activate the motor and can be blocked sometimes by paper parts when there are too little paper parts are schredded or some unusual objects such as tape or staples have been included accidential in most case its better to open the schredder too take a good observation because of damage the lever of the switch by pushing with some objects between the knifes, To prevent repeating complaint by working with often little shredding parts is when there is somebody handyman made a power activating pressure-switch on the powercable and unconnect the microswitch and bridge the 2 wires to each other inside the shredder for continu motor activation when you will schredding little pieces without having the same problems again because its designed for schredding only DIN paper or plastic sheets formats by user manual and the activate is only beginning by input from the middle of the device . by making a powercable push-switch there is no limit (but beware for safety rules first ) in first place )in case of home use / or use in office .
If you're having to hold that inside button down to bring it down that is because of your sensors being out of alignment. On the bottom left and bottom right of your garage door track are your photo eyes and if they're not cleaned and pointing toward each other, then they will not allow the door to close. It will only close with the inside button because it is hardwired and when you hold the button down it shoots a continuous current that bypasses Those sensors. Remotes and keypad are wireless and must have photo sensors aligned to work
From what you describe it sounds like the "eyes" work ok because you hear the click of the relay inside but if it dosnt run then its likely the pcb inside is "pooched"...contact Royal at 1-800-524-0799 for parts assistance.
Most probably the safety switch is preventing it from turning on. Try neatly and firmly closing the paper basket door/opening; see if any paper bits got stuck somewhere, preventing the switch from being deactivated.
I am wondering if you have something that is jammed. Is there any way you can get into the unit to turn the cutters manually? If so try to turn them backwards first and see what happens. Good luck. Unplug it to do this.
Remove power from the opener. Then, pull the red release rope and manually lift open the door. It should move with little effort. Next, pull the door halfway down and let go. The door should stay where you left it. If it fails either test, the door lift springs need replacement or adjustment. If it works ok, follow the proceedure in the owners manual for adjusting the up and down limit sensors, and the emergency reverse adjustment.
