Western Digital HDD I need softwear to install WD5000G032

Remove the HDD inside the case,If the HDD inside is working, remove data with a usb to IDE/SATA Adapter. If the HDD is damaged, which is likely, It ,most likely, can be read, but I don't think you are going to like the bill for that service.

Did you install the western digital drive softare? There should have been a disk with the drive, which you run when you have installed the drive. It tells the computer there is a new hdd in town. If you don't have the disk, google Western Digital, find their website, and search for HDD driver software, with the model number of your drive. You should be able to download the drivers to your computer, and install them that way.

Follow these steps:

1. Download HDD Capacity Restore Tool.
2. Install and Run
3. Select your Western Digital drive and hit Restore Capacity.

that's it.

If this fails to restore the capacity it probably because your hdd has a firmware issue. If such is the case then you need to send the drive to a data recovery office, or to Western Digital Shop.

The blinking of the lights is just the indication that data is being accessed.

You might need to change your bios settings from ide to sata. Have you already checked the bios settings? If everything is in order you might have a bad board. What have you tried so far?

The Western Digital Scorpio (WD2500BEVS) doesn't come with a driver, but I have an idea that perhaps you may have a pin setting wrong, making the drive not recongizeable. Here is the information on setting the pin on the back'


If that doesn't seem to solve the problem, then I'd run the WD Lifeguard software, that will detect any problems and correct them for you. You can find that software HERE.

hi ,

looks like u primary hard drive is inside the laptop and so should be displayed as c : drive ,

and the reason , the external hard drive is not displayed seperately is csue ., the external HD  may be added as slave to the internal HD .,

can u tell me ,make a right click on c:/ drive and choose properties : and tell the totalsize dispalyed 

My External HDD of Western Digital (500 GB) not detecting by Win-XP SP-2. But at the same machine another External HDD of Western Digital (160 GB) is detecting and functioning well.
What is the problem? & what to do to get back my necessary files stored in the 500 GB HDD.

If this drive is only for storage it can be set as a slave drive. If it will have the OS installed and will be the boot drive it has to be set as master. Set the jumpers accordingly. If a different drive is the master you might check the jumpers on that also. I have seen some drives with a (master/slave present) jumper that might need to be changed as well. Most WD drives have a jumper settings diagram on the case.
