SOURCE: My touchpad left click wont

I have this same problem on my pavillion dv6. sent it to warranty repairs twice they have replaced the keyboard, touch pad and mother board, worked about a week after last repair which took two weeks. I am sending it back on feb 10 for more replace parts and see if it works. I searched the web and I have not found any solution and hp won't even acknowledge the problem althoughit it is not limited to the hp product. Reconfigureing and downloading drivers etc. has done nothing but waste time. I am using usb mouse with touch pad disabled for now even that acts strange with the touch pad enabled.

How do i copy and paste on acer c7 chromebook

"to copy and paste a paragraph" - I just used my c7 to copy the prior phrase from you the text in your question and to paste it into this "add your solution" answer box. Here's how I did it...... 1-I placed the cursor in front of the word "to", and while holding the touchpad down with my left finger, swiped the cursor through the phrase to the end of the word "paragraph" (thereby highlighting the desired phrase), then lifted both hands. 2- With the cursor over the end of the highlighted phrase, I used my left finger to hold down the "alt" key to the left of the touchpad the clicked the touchpad causing the drop-down copy menu to appear, then lifted both hands. 3-I then used the touchpad to move the cursor over the word "copy" in the drop-down menu and clicked the touchpad.
4-Then I placed the cursor in this "answer" text-box clicked once once. Next I held down the "alt" key to the left of the touchpad and clicked the touchpad to cause the "paste" drop-down menu to appear and raised both hands. Finally I moved the cursor over the word "paste" in the drop-down menu and clicked the touchpad, thereby successfully copying and pasting the phrase from your question. PS - an alternative to holding the left alt key and clicking to get the drop-down menu is to place two fingers on the touchpad (about a half inch apart) and click with both fingers simultaneously. The latter method only works about 75% of the time for me, so I recommend using the alt key.

My acer touchpad is nto taping please let me know i have window7 starter

If I understand correctly, the touchpad CAN move the cursor around but you CANNOT click or "tap"?

If this is the case, you'll need to adjust your touchpad settings. Under Start>Control Panel>Mouse you should be able to find the settings to adjust your touchpad.

Alternatively there may be a small icon in your taskbar (down by the clock) for your synaptics touchpad. If you right click this icon a menu appears and you can select "enable tapping"

I have a Sony Vaio VGN CS290. Just a few minutes ago the touchpad and the buttons were working properly. However, I suddenly cannot make a click/double click from both the touchpad and the left click...

This sounds like a hardware issue, however, you can do some troubleshooting steps:

First solution: Go to the mouse settings.
On the "buttons" tab, go to the "double click speed" area.
Slide the cursor all the way to fast and try clicking on the folder with your left mouse button,
If it opens easily, your button should be working.
If not, try sliding cursor all the way to slow.

Second solution: Download the latest touchpad driver from Sony Vaio website support drivers page and type in your laptop serial number and try to reinstall the touchpad pointer driver and restart the system.

Third solution: please perform a system restore, how to perform a system restore press and hold down the windows key on your keyboard and press the R key after that a window will pop up, in that command box type "rstrui" without colon and you will see the system restore page click next and you will see several dates, now select the date where your computer was working fine and then click next and proceed with the system restore, please note that system restore will not delete any data or files but it will uninstall only the programmes which you have installed on or after the date which you have selected to restore.

If none of these works try connecting a mouse and see if all the clicks are working fine and if that is working fine then it has something to do with the hardware of the click button of the laptop I would suggest you to take it to the service center and get it replaced it won't cost much.

How do you turn off the touch pad

Some notebook users find the touch pad annoying because at times, while typing fast, their thumbs accidentally brush up against the touchpad. This is frustrating because the mouse cursor jumps to a random location on the screen and can cause undesirable things.

To turn off the touchpad when an external mouse or other pointing device is present, you can goto the Control Panel and double click the Mouse properties icon.

Click the Device Select tab and check "Disable Touch Pad when USB Pointing Device is present." The cursor will no longer move via the touchpad.

Cursor on my keypad jumps around

If your cursor moves erratically on the screen (for example, if it jumps around the screen, moves at varying speeds, or selects items on its own), perform the following steps:

1. Clean the surface of the touchpad with a dry, soft cloth to remove grease, sweat, moisture, or other liquids.

2. Adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad:.

a. Click the Start button and click Control Panel.

b. Click Printers and Other Hardware.

c. Click Mouse.

d. When the Mouse Properties window appears, click the Pointer Options tab.

e. Under Select a pointer speed:, click to move the slider bar closer to Slow.

f. Click OK.

g. Check to see if the touch pad still behaves erratically.

3. If the touchpad still caused the cursor to behave erratically, attach an external mouse to your computer and restart your computer. Use the external mouse to see if your cursor still moves erratically.

4. After connecting an external mouse, uninstall the touchpad driver from the Device manager listed under the "mice and other pointing devices" category and restart the Computer.

5. Download the Touchpad driver compatible to the Operating System installed on the Computer from the manufacturer's site and install it after restarting the Computer.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Cursor position jumps back or down a line or two in Outlook.

Are you using windows vista? If so, that is a common problem with vista. The reason is the driver for the touchpad. Your palm may brush up against the touchpad while you are typing which moves the cursor all around. You can open up the properties for the touchpad (in control panel or by right clicking the icon next to the clock that corresponds to the touchpad and selecting properties), and play around with the sensitivity and palmtouch options in it as well as make sure you have the most up to date drivers available if you are using vista. Oh and one more thing, please give this solution a fixya rating. Thanks!

Acer Tablet C300 Series - Cursor moving to Left

I?ve had a couple of Dells laptops do this and without fail the cause was flaky touchpad/mouse drivers. I would suggest going to the Acer website downloading the latest drivers for your mouse. If that fails try removing the driver and running with the Windows default drivers, that what I?ve been doing successfully on my company laptops for several years now. Acer driver download page, the web site is really slow so be prepared for a long wait. The closest match was the C300 so I?m assuming these are generic drivers for the 300 series. Use the pull down menus and select the following: -Select Product Line = Notebook -To the right of that select TravelMate C300 (way at the bottom) -Make sure English is selected and click on the search button. Once the drivers page opens go down towards the bottom and load for TM C300 touchpad drivers Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this posting.
