You can reset and eliminate the lock on some televisions without the remote, using a few tactics. Hold the power button for five seconds. The television will automatically restart. If the lock is still on, unplug the television and remove the battery from the back panel of the television.
These are the instructions on locking and unlocking the control panel for your TV:
Front Panel Lock
This feature allows you to lock the buttons on the front of the TV. Even when the front
panel lock feature is on, the TV operates with the remote control.
To lock the buttons on the front of the TV:
1. Make sure the TV is on.
2. Press and hold the POWER button on the remote for approximately 5 seconds.
To turn off the front panel lock:
1. Make sure the TV is off.
2. Press and hold the POWER button on the remote for approximately 5 seconds
You're going to need the remote to fix this one. If you have any other GE or RCA tv's you can try it. Most of the remotes that are produced within a few years of your television will probably work. When you get one the instructions are:

Of course if you don't have a remote that can bring up the menu I don't know how this can be done.
I'm guessing what you have there is an Akai CFT2791 made by Samsung? And a CFT2729 is not a good model number.
You will need to get into the menu and then sub menus to change or turn off the child lock feature. The procedure is well described in the owner's manual and I have the manual. You can email me privately I'll send it to you...
