The ERR message can only be corrected by holding in the DISP/MENU and STOP buttons for two seconds, which results in ALL the material on the recorder being erased. I had the same problem with my Olympus VN-5000. I found a solution, which appears to reformat the memory (ERR means memory error). Try to press the STOP and DISP/MENU buttons at the same time for about 2 seconds, and then the display should show "FOR". It will supposedly erase the whole memory, but will at least make the device usable again! I hope this solution works for your model.

yes the above solution ie by pressing "STOP" button and "DISP/MENU" button at a time is solved my problem showing "ERR" in VN 2100PC olympus voice recorder
