1. check your memory it may not be seated properly.
2. check the notch that it match the notch on the motherboard.
If not seated squarely the unit will not post.

If it worked prior to adding the new memory check the following. 1. how much memory does the laptop support and how much have you put in. 2. what is the speed of the memory you purchased vs. the spec for the laptop. 3. Is the memory properly seated. 4. If there are 2 chips make certain they are compatible. 5. try one chip at a time to see if one is bad (you could have gotten a bad piece of memory!) 6. Put your original memory back in and go here http://www.crucial.com/?gclid=CIfh7uHHm6ECFRRM5QodeGQlzw&cpe=pd_google_us&ef_id=1705:3:s_09358bad9ffd2090a57cd12ae34889fd_482416823:S9DpU9BbrmIAAFWPDosAAAFA:20100423002659
This is three steps to get the proper memory modules. Works 100% of the time! Good luck Let me know how you make out Phil

SOURCE: only have half screen on my Dell Inspiron 1501

What your describing is a failure of the LCD or possibly the inverter cable connection to the LCD. Most likely an LCD replacement will be required.

LCDs run around $150 on Ebay

SOURCE: i have dell inspiron 1501. when i insert sd memory

Go to My Computer and right-clickie the icon. Drop down to Properties (the last one in the list) and you want the tab for Hardware.

Find the USBs listed in there. They should be close to the bottom. Delete them, or right-clickie and select Uninstall.

Reboot your computer and let it auto-detect the USB hubs again as it reboots. That should solve it - if it doesn't then you have a hardware issue.

SOURCE: dell Inspiron 1501 will not reboot. the lights are on but no home

body { background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 4px; font-family: arial, verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; } p { margin:0px; padding:0px; } .spwrap { background: transparent url(../wysiwyg_rte_2/misspell.gif) repeat-x scroll center bottom; } Please press the fn button and hold it down then press the power button if you see a test running on the system and if that test gives u and error code number please provide that error code number on the site and you will be able to see what is bad in your machine. If you still do not see any display on the screen connect and external desktop monitor and try to check it with it. If you are able to see a display on that monitor it clearly means that the screen has gone bad and you need to get the lcd replaced of your monitor

Screen blank no starting

Make sure it is the same speed, etc as the original::

NOTE: To get maximum performance/dual-channel memory bandwidth capability, both memory module connectors must contain memory modules and the modules must be of the same size and configuration.
note.gif NOTE: If a memory module is not installed properly, the computer does not boot.
