May I suggest a quick and easy fix, maybe not so cost effecient UNLESS you can return the linksys router. If you are using DSL, then I recommend a D-Link router for your access point. Linksys routers are commonly not compatable with DSL modems. If you get the D-link, you should have no problems with plug and play.

If your network is secured then make sure that you are typing the correct network key. also make sure that the DHCP server is enabled on the router. is there any computer connected to the router ? Are you trying to set up the router. You can do it manually without the CD. Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem. If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first. If your computer is able to go online through the modem then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router. open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP. this will detect all the wireless signals being broadcast - see if the router is actually broadcasting - if it is detected on your PC then it may be that 1) the firewall is blocking access or 2) the security code is entered wrong - -log into the router and remove the wireless security and see if you can now detect

Step 1: Shutdown the computer. Step 2: reset the router while power on then Unplug the router’s power cable. Step 3: Unplug the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for 30 seconds. Step 4: Plug in the Broadband modem’s power cable and wait for its lights to appear stable. Step 5: Plug in the router's power cable once the modem’s lights appear stable. Step 6: Power on the computer on and configure the router settings Step 7: test the Internet connection.
note:
configuring the router settings will depends who is your provider. if your isp is dsl you need to configure your ISP username and password on the router. if your router is a cable no need to change any settings on the router. it should automatically work
