Rear projection TV! HELP!

I've been reading around this website looking for a similar problem but have yet to find one so here goes: Just moved. Hooked up the TV cable (don't have a digital box). Screen comes on, sound OK but picture flickers in greyish color. Looks as though 2 pictures are on at once. Turn the TV off. Wait until red lights off. Turn it back on. Same thing. Repeat. Same thing. Repeat. Same. After about 4 or 5 tries everything is fine. Realized the cable was going through a splitter and connected it directly from the wall. Worked immediately. Day later, same problem! Weird. Very frustrating seeing as how it takes about one minute between tries. Any ideas? Trying to play DVD/PS2 has same problem! Seems like TV has to be turned on and off 3 or 4 times to work. Heard you're the best.

Try looking over the tuner solder joints as well as the pins where Input board feeds to the singal board. Sounds like a solder issue or a weak capacitor. Check the solder with a good quality magnifying glass. Let me know how you make out and I will try to help you through the process to nail it down.

There is a discoloration on the sides of the tv. there is like a color of purple and green and makes the picture blurr looking- Guest

This is most likely because you have an unguarded speaker too close to the T.V. If you have a speaker close to the television, try moving it around a little to see if the discoloration goes away. If that doesn't work, you can try moving a large magnet around the edge of the screen to move the CRT guns back into place. Best of luck.

Try using different inputs besides the RF input. Connect your PS2 and DVD player using component inputs. With two component inputs, there's no reason in the world not to do this.

Do you know if they sell vibration eliminators or shock absorbers for the rear projection floor tv?

Solder connections to the convergence stk ic chips have developed ring cracks most likely. The chips will fail if not resoldered. The chips will be mounted to large heat sinks and have stk392-110 or similar marked on them. You will need good soldering skills or professional help is in order. The chips are prone to failure for this reason. Unplug the AC cord before attemping to open the TV . You will need to gain access to the bottom of the circuit board the chips are mount to. Unplug the electricity...did I mention to unplug the AC three times??? Yes ;)

Hitachi 50 inch Rear Projection Color problem

Which sounds like a loose connection in the video or chroma section. you can carefully tap around affected area with a rubber screwdriver handle(not metal part) and see if it does come and go and look in that area for loose connections that needs soldering back. Hope this helps
