this will be need a trouble shooting, if you want a do it with your own check this part. first thing you need to do is removed the back cover of the tv so you can access the internal part. now at this time look for the power supply board this is where the power cord connected. check for a bulging capacitor pull out and replaced it with new capacitor. you can find replacement part at www.digikey.com.

The beeping is usually caused by the Flyback transformer and HOT transistor. You can get the 239111 flyback and HOT repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com

Sounds like the STK730-130 IC needs replacement. You only need one for your model. Its available from www.tvrepairworld.com its listed under the Integrated Circuits category.

You probably need a new projector bulb. Google up your model and buy the best warranteed one you can find. Buy a "caged assembly" and not just a bare bulb.

Then unplug your tv and get a screwdriver. Follow your model's instructions and just snug down the electrical screws. Do not overtighten them.

Then consult your manual on how to reset the lamp timer so it knows you put a new bulb in and fires up from the first try.

Treat yourself because you've just saved yourself a trip from a repairman!!

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

If you haven't used the autoconvegence option in the menu screen try that. If not clean the projection lenses inside the TV with qtips and alchohol with the tv on so you can see if the lenses are clean.

This is usually the flyback transformer (IHVT-integrated high voltage transformer) and the HOT( horizontal output transistor) The transistor will read shorted, with a multimeter, if it is bad. It is mounted to a heatsink straight back from the flyback. It may have a metal clip that holds it tight to the heatsink.
It is a pretty easy fix if you can solder.
While you have the board out, check for any discolored resistors or blown capacitors and replace those as they will likely fail before long and cause more problems. Also check with a bright light and a magnifier for cracked solder joints and resolder any that you find.

Go to the menu and select convergence (the tv menu). Move the bars until the lines are lined up perfectly. Repeat for each color, then exit the menu.

This varies for different tv's.

INFORMATION I HAVE FOR THIS MODEL says it first made in late 1998--

I have a few questions:

Did you hear any frying sound or smell anything burning?

The more you tell me the better I can help you.

It seems that your unit has some sort of PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur.

You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done. It is that sound that gives it away, this is a typical switchmode Power Supply problem.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. To reset the picture you’ll need to reset all the Video menu options to their original factory setting for which you’ll need to follow this step-by-step procedure---

Press the Menu button and then use up or down arrow button to select the Video menu. Now press the right arrow button and then use up or down arrow button to select Video Reset then press the right arrow button to reset the Video menu options to original values.

If still the problem persists, then you’ll need to check for local interference such as an electrical appliance or power tool and also check the antenna. If required change the direction of the antenna.

To resolve the issue of double Screen, first check whether all the cables from your dish network are fine and connected firmly. If yes then you'll need to pull off the front of the TV, behind the speaker grill there would be a panel. Remove the panel and check for a black box hanging over there. It has 6 controls on it, 3 are marked as focus and 3 as screen. You'll need to adjust the screen. If you turn these too high you can damage a tube. So we are doing real small adjustments. Turn the color off on the TV and adjust the red, blue & green controls up till you get a fine picture. Also adjust the focus until you get a clear picture.

And, if it doesn't resolve your issue then it is an intermittent blue picture tube, a bad blue driver transistor on the CRT board, a bad connection on the blue CRT board, or a problem in the RGB coming from the video jungle IC. A set this age, most likely will run about 300-500 bucks to have this problem fixed, unless it is the picture tube.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Rylee

This is a chassis PTK195 and acommon fault with these sets, that causes the symptom you describe, is the flyback transformer goes bad.
If you're at all familiar with electronic repair you could start checking there (and horizontal output transistor shorts). If not have an RCA approved warrany repairer give you an estimate/service call.
Note: the good thing about these sets is the chassis is very common and easily removed for service (without bringing in the whole set.) .
Usual cost to repair flyback/ dead set symptoms $200-$350.
