I bought a sumishi dvd player and the remote has gone bad. I bought a universal remote but cannot get it programmed, what is the code that I should use to programme the universal remote
Most newer universal remote now have a code search feature - read your instructions to establish this feature.
Good luck
Hi what went wrong with the original remote.
Sunishi is a brand that I have never heard of. The commom problem is universal remotes generally only deal with mainstream brands and minority brands are quite often not supported unless the device manufacturer has used a mainstream manufacturers microprocessor and IR code set.
Hi, it could be worth your while to take the remote to a repair organisation as there is not a lot that that can go wrong with a remote. Failures I have seen involve mucky boards & rubber Pads - real common(general wear & tear - Clean the board/pad with isopropyl alcohol/surgical methlyated spirits), IR led fails and ceramic resonator fails (both these need oscilloscope for testing).
A quick test to establish whether the remote is even operational is to view the IR LED with the camera on your phone while pressing buttons.
Hint - use the lesser used buttons for this test

I did use the code search feature still not able to find a code
Some of the functions on the original remote when the buttons were pressed would no not work at times, then ultimately the remote stopped working. Trying to find what other mainstream brand affiliated to.
