I have the same MP4 player i have bought on Ebay..I've had the same problems. Download ViDrop, that should fix your problems, but make sure u set the video resolution to 320x240. It works i promise u...im watchin Final Fantasy Advent Children on my mp4 right now! Good Luck!!
I have a unit running the same firmware rebranded as Polaroid. The software I use, with some success, can be downloaded from their support site...

I am the victim of the same piece of garbage. Worst than that, I paid more and it stuck permanently at the "Welcome @ loading" screen the first night I received it.
Other than the demo avi, it did play one video my son left at the desktop. It probably was converted for his ipod touch. It virtually plays nothing else.
On loading it up with a 5G folder, trying to find a video converter that would work, it just stuck at loading at the next power up.
I haven't even noted its original FW version!
I guess it must be one of those with doctored flash size, you loaded it up, it corrupted and the FW might have gone.
As it does not come with any instructions, I don't know how to wake it up.
It no longer comes up a storage device when connected to the PC. Reset does not help but I found it showed at least 2 different USB IDs depending on which button I held during that reset, one is close to, but not exactly, what adfupdate is looking for.
Sometimes it also makes a snapping sound when the usb cable is plugged in. It sounds like it is in some form of camera mode.
The bottom line is it cannot get through the loading screen and won't mount as a drive any more for us to look inside.
I think we have to reload the firmware.
Have anybody been able to fix this brick and tell us how?
Help!
Any help in resurrecting this brick will be appreciated.
More info for my unit.
As suspected, there is only a single SamSung K9GAG08U0M PCB0 flash inside. Hence it is 16G bit not 16G Byte. It is just doctored to show 16GB. No wonder it hanged after filling it up with 5GB.
The MCU is ATJ2237T. There are some FW's for this MCU on the web however I don't know which one would fit this player.
There is no harm trying if yours is a brick like mine. Update the thread if you find the right one.
Thanks

Those who have replied with a solution so far have not read the original post paying particular attention to the details. Many conversion programs were tested, creating video files of the proper resolution. To make a long story short, the player would corrupt easily and had to be reformatted and loaded with 3 Gig of MP3s again and again (30 minutes each time). It finally died after about two weeks of ownership. As others have found, this player will not play AVI files transferred from an NTFS or Fat32 file system (Windows).
