If your Bernina Artista 180 sewing machine won't power on, here are a few things you can try:
Check the power supply: Make sure that your sewing machine is properly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Try plugging another device into the same outlet to ensure that it's working.
Check the cord and connections: Check the power cord for any visible damage or wear, and make sure it's securely plugged into the sewing machine. If you see any damage or wear, you may need to replace the power cord.
Check the fuse: There may be a fuse in the power cord or on the machine that has blown. Check the owner's manual for instructions on how to replace the fuse.
Try a different outlet: If you're using a surge protector, try plugging the sewing machine directly into a wall outlet to rule out any issues with the surge protector.
Consult a professional: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be an internal problem with the machine that requires a professional technician to diagnose and fix.
If the issue persists, it may be best to contact Bernina customer support or take your sewing machine to a certified Bernina repair shop for further assistance.

While the surge protector is an excellent thing to use, BERNINA sewing machines also have a set of fuses in the power supply. There is a chance that one of these fuses has blown. My recommendation would be to take your machine into your local BERNINA dealer to get it checked out. As long as you have checked the cord, the surge protector, changed plugs on both, and checked the circuit breaker in the house, it is probably an internal issue that is best fixed by a certified BERNINA technician.
I don't know the circuit of this sewing machine but it gives me the impression the light and the board are in series with a fuse. If this is true the light will burn out and cause the screen to go black as well. If the fuse would go out the same thing would be true. Anyway, change the light first. If this doesn't work you will need to replace the fuse. If there are still problems it will need the mother board to be replaced. Tell me how this worked out.
1. check the outlet 2. make sure the power cord is plugged into the machine snuggly and correctly it also possible that the power cord went bad and that the machine needs to be checked to see if there is something wrong with the power cord or the plug in the sewing machine. or if there is something wrong with the on off switch..
Hi, sorry to say but very rarely is it the fuse when this happens. You can unscrew the one screw on the ouside and pop the cover open. (carefull as there are wires attached and make sure you are grounded or have discharged any static from yourself).
The fuse will be self-evident but I suspect you will need a visit to your Bernina dealership for a new circuitboard.

If the power cord is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, plug the sewing machine power cord directly into the wall outlet until this is resolved.
Check all power cord connections and push them in tightly.
If this works, then the power strip's breaker may have been tripped.
