Hi there,

Did you also turn ON the camera after you connect it to your laptop. Some camera automatically turns OFF when you connect it to the PC, you need to turn it ON in able the PC the detects for any imaging device connected.

Let me hear from you here again.

Thanks.

I plugged in my A55 to download some pics today and it always pops up on my desktop that Im importing or viewing blah blah, this time, no pop up? Where did it go? I need to download my pics!!!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

The camera doesn't download pics to the computer. It reads

TRANSFERRING PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then removethe memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader.Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of yourworking computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device oran external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card andcopy the photos to your computer.Memory card reader is a handy device and isinexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also downloadphotos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need ofinstalling any programs.

windows doesn't always need software to read pics from a camera.
Just connect the camera, and have a look in 'My computer' you may find the camera's memory shows up as hard drive... worth a try.
Alternatively, remove the memory from the camera and either plug it straight into the laptop (and look in 'my computer') if you have the correct slot, or connect it via a cheap $2 memory reader (available from ebay).

My pc states my cameria is an unknown device and doesnt load my pics

Some cameras you need to turn on after they are hooked up to the computer for the computer to notice them. Click on my computer then look for something that says removable drive device and double click on it. Windows has a pic viewer. If this does not work, then you need the specific software for your camera that you can download for free from their website.

Can't download from camera

Have you tried turning off laptop and back on again, this might help if not just reload software again for your camera.
hope this helps.
