Screen Problems My screen turns like a digital pink color. Surfing the web it says it might be a loose or broken connection. Before I go for my warranty wanted to see if anyone knows anything about this?

Symptoms line up with video card going out, or more likely screen going out. if you turn off the computer and turn it back on if its immediatly reddish/ pink tint then its your screen. Can be a bit expensive to fix. also could be as simple as the ribbon cable inside became loose, test this theory by lightly shaking the laptop. if the screen goes from good color and back to pinkish then that is your issue and you will need a repair shop if you are not comftable with opening up your machine! You may have an issue if the set was shipped or even dropped---there is a metal screen inside the tube called a shadow mask--dropped and can be damaged----

If set was just sitting and this happened the set has a built in degaussing coil--sometimes the solder connection to the posistor that turns it on/off breaks loose.


It is a small rectangular black part very near where the fuse and cord connect inside the set---if someone gains access to the bottom of the board where it is---three pins in a triangle pattern---even one broken loose will cause the unit to not degauss fully the face of that picture tube----it does it every single time set is first turned on and if cuts off too soon a rainbow like picture is the result.

I have one of these and never had a problem like this. The only possibilities that I can think of are a loose connection, possible broken pins, or having the color setup on the monitor configured incorrectly.

Try to remove the VGA cord and blow it. Insert it again and turn on your computer.

Your VGA cable is loose or damaged. Try removing it and plugging it back in a few times.
The VGA cable is the blue one that goes from your video card to your monitor. If it is one that can be removed from the monitor, make sure to disconnect and re-connect both ends.
You can do this with the computer running. Wiggling the cable around should cause the pink screen to go away. If the wires inside are broken you will need a new cable.

Try changing the connecting cable. You seem to be connecting it with a composite cable which might have loose pins.

check the vga cable, usualy its a broken wire inside

Loose electrical connection or its loosing its grip to hold your screen. If you can do it on warranty then try. Or have it check by a technician.

You have broken wire that connect screen to the motherboard, when moving screen it connect somtime and sometimes disconnect. It about 18pin wire but only one is broken.

This is known problem. Canon has confirmed that.
