1333 fsb duo dore wont post

i cant get my bord to even post with an intel core 2 with 1333 fsb. this is the 2nd cpu at 1333 that i have tried. the first was a enginearing sample and so i thought that perhaps that had somthing to do with it. so i bought one from newegg. brandy new and tried to run.....nada. the board has been running a pent D 830 for months now. no major isues. i tried to manually switch to 1333 in bios shut down and changed cpu. nothing still. asus is such a HUGE help they send me the proper way to install cpu and memory e-mail and figure thats all i need, since i dont know my fsb from the hdd. i think theres an isue with the board. it should switch all by itself, correct? any thoughts. i am hoping i have overlooked something. btw so you know i have 500w psu, 4 gig ozc memory. 2 asus 8500gt vid in sli mode. 2 dvd drives, single 125 hdd, 2 case fans. i doubt its a power isue since the pent D uses more power than the core 2. but mabey i am wrong. thanks Scott

The board is most likely the first version and will not support the 1333 FSB even if the box says it does. The way to find out is to look at the motherboard for Rev. and notice the revision number. Cross reference the model number and rev no. and you will see it was before they could support the 1333 FSB. Go back to the Pentium D.

Intel core tm duo cpu e4500 motherboard

Intel core tm duo cpu e4500 motherboard
Intel = Processor (CPU ) manufacturer
Intel Core tm = Trademark. The Intel Core is a Trademark from Intel
CPU stands for Central Processing Unit. Another term used is Microprocessor, or simply - Processor for short.
e4500 is an Intel Core2 Duo processor.
Maximum frequency rate ('Speed') is 2.2GigaHertz.
2MegaByte of L2 Cache. (2MB of L2 Cache)
800MegaHertz Front Side Bus. (800MHz FSB)

Tells me Nothing about the actual motherboard. Look on the motherboard for a Model Number. May be in center of motherboard. May be on edge of motherboard. May be in-between one of the expansion slots, on motherboard.

Also post what the problem is, in your best description.

What cpu is compatible with motherboard GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3

Go to http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/download-center.aspx?kw=GA-965P-DS3

and click on revision 1.0 - 3.3 as there may be additional CPUs supported in Rev 3.3 vs 1.0, you have to determine what specific Revision you have.

1333 FSB processor ( E6850 ) on a 1066 FSB motherboard, DDR2 667 memory

Hi proenza. you're making good sence! You're D945GCL MB should be able to run 1066 FSB. Not 100% sure you're memory will keep FSB up to 1066.
Here's the trouble though. The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 will not run on the Intel D945GCL motherboard because it is not supported. Look here at Intel's web site. Supported CPU's.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gcl

Intel E6850 specs sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6850-Processor-3-0GHz-4MB-Cache-1333MHz-FSB-Conroe-Dual-Core-OEM-Socket-77

Intel E6700 spec sheet. http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6700-2-67Ghz

This CPU is supported by the D945GCL MB.
http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d945gcl

Intel Core 2 Duo E4700 Processor BX80557E4700 - 2.60GHz.

In order to get 1066MHz (CPU can run at), you'll also need the memory support at 800MHz. The D945GCL MB can only run DDR2-667MHz.
Many people buy a CPU to run MB's specs (1333MHz) just to find the same MB does not support DDR2-1066MHz or DDR2-800MHz. Motherboard Mfg's are lagging. DDR3-1333MHz is out there now to support the 1333 MHz CPU FSB.

I hope this has helped you make a decision proenza.

Good Luck!

Mike

Wont post with 1333 fsb

This board wont take a 1333 cpu. The fastest it will run is 1066

This motherboard supports the latest Intel® Pentium / Celeron CPU in LGA775 package with 1066/ 800/ 533MHz FSB, Hyper-Threading Technology and core-speeds up to 3.8GHz and beyond.
Make sure your RAM is DDR2 800mhz
The Pentium D830 runs at 800fsb which is in line with the board capabilities.
