Ignition wont spark.

stoves with an electrode start igniter do not lite up pilot by adding a flame, that will not work. u need to find out why and where is the power to igniter is not coming from? the spark module or a bad igniter?

Is the ignition sparking? When you press and hold down the buttons, the ignition should be sparking at the centre electrode. At the same time when you hold the buttons down, the gas valve is manually held open to release the gas. The spark is then supposed to ignite the gas. Hold the knobs down for about 3 to 5 seconds after ignition and the gas valve will stay on. If it lights but the flame wont stay on, it could be anything from a partially blocked aeration port to a worn knob. When you push down on the knob, it is supposed to press down on an electromagnetic lock which keeps the gas valve open when the flame is burning. When the knob or shaft isn't pushing down enough, it doesn't keep the gas valve locked and the flame will go out as soon as you let the knob go.

If the flame does not come on it could be the igniter needs replacing. Some times if everything is set to go but if the flame does not light up then it automatically shuts down again. It is common to have to replace igniters.

clock must be set to correct time or it will hinder proper operation of oven

Newest cook top styles, such as the induction or halogen cook tops combine the same style to produce more even heating. Some of these ovens feature thermal limiters or thermostats that regulate the burner system. GAS OVENS 1)The spark igniter tip is dirty (can clean it with either a little wire brush or a piece of fine sandpaper).

2) The Pilot flame is too low, and the tip of the igniter is not in the flame good enough. (the flame acts as a circuit when it touches the tip & completes the circuit).

3) The spark module is no good and needs to be replaced.(But 1 & 2 are your best bet).
spark module does not sense the flame when it's on. The spark igniter is also the flame sensor which provides feedback to the spark module.

Make sure the igniter is properly aligned with the burner lighting holes and it is clean. All lighting holes must be clean too. You can enlarge them using a drill bit one size bigger.

If it would not fix the problem, replace the bake burner and the igniter.

There is a small chance for the spark module itself to be bad as well.
ELECTRIC OVENS:

CHECK THE OVEN RELAY CONTROL BOARD Aclicking sound could be something wrong with a relay. Check for any loose connections around the main control board on your oven. The click you hear is a relay losing power and switching back on. If the clock resets then something is causing power interruptions to the board.

The oven safety valve
(also called the gas valve) is the part that ensures that gas is not released until the igniter has reached the correct temperature needed to ignite the gas. While this part can fail, it is uncommon. If the hot surface igniter does not glow you should first verify that you have voltage to the circuit. This is a live voltage check and should be performed by a qualified person. If voltage is lost at the valve terminals then you should verify the continuity of the bi-metal in the valve using a multi-meter.

first check to make sure all the burner tops are setting correctly on the burner base, if not it will make the flame uneven. the way the igniter works is once they feel the flames on them they will stop sparking. make sure the flames are not too low and they are touching the igniter. check them one at a time. if you have any questions message me back thanks

adjust the fuel output , it is easiest to do by holding the button down while lighting the flame with a seperate lighter and then setting the flame on the lighter that does not ignite proper, also take into account that the temperature of the lighter by being held in your hand for a while or by being in your pocket can have a great effect on the pressure of the buttane being expelled.

use a set of needle nose pliers & disconnect the igniter wire the module should start clicking if it does not click check the wires to the board clean them good & reconnect if the module still wont start clicking your board is bad if it does click the igniter adjustment off stick a nickle between the igniter & burner the gap should be the size of the nickle 3/16"
