Yes you have to sign up to get the signal. They offer plans that are monthly, quarterly and yearly. You get price breaks with the longer commitments.

satellite reception problem

I have sirius installed in my 2008 RAV4 JBL system.
There is an adapter made by VAIS technologies http://www.vaistech.com/ that is called a soundlink. It comes with instructions for the connection. The Sirius radio is hidden in this installation, and is controlled by your JBL system. The antenna runs up the side of the windshield (hidden behind the plastic moulding) and mounts to the top right corner of the roof.

HOWEVER- you will not have the full funcionality of the Stratus 5 radio- which has more funtionality that the JBL system can control. Also, the Scrolling feature on the Stratus 5 screen does not work on the JBL display. . . you get the first 15 or so characters, with no scrolling.

I love having an integrated satelite radio in my car, but I do miss the better screen, and the pause feature I had on my sportster (in my old car). Good Luck.

Try getting the model number of the radio, and doing a search online and see what comes up, then check out the specs. Sometimes if you can pull the radio out, you may be able to see if there is a connection on the back to input the mini receiver for Sirius. In most cases, the radio will have the Sirius symbol on the front of the radio signifying it is capable for reception

Bad news my friend. That model isn't supported anymore. Sirius is pretty good about replacing the radio for free and discounting the accessories. You will get one for free. The docks are reasonably priced. The boombox you might be able to get a discount for. The new docks are more designed for multiple units should this happen in the future to you again (like Stratus radios).

There isn't much to service on the radios. If the board is dead it isn't worth fixing. It's cheaper for Sirius to replace it.

I am most certain that you have to return the radio most likely you do have a faulty radio and you have only one or two choices here. Return or take it to a tech...I would use the warrenty and send it back...sounds very faulty...this is common with these radios.

I had the same problem with invalid channel on all channels ! Had to reset the siriuss receiver by removing power for 15 sec and restoring! that means not just shuting it off but removing all power to the sirius unit not the clarion unit itself and reastablishing power to it turning on the clarion head unit and walah! satelite would recieve ESN and 184 and programing! Hope it works for you after 3 long waiting periods on the phone!
