Cant find linksys

I think you should check the wireless settings of your router first.
If your wireless network is secured then make sure that you have the correct wireless network key WEP / WPA .
If your router is too old then it will be better to upgrade the firmware of your Linksys router.

If you can connect to the Internet using the LAN cable then your Internet connection is OK.
If you are trying to connect to the Internet using the wireless connection, then your problem is the wireless settings in either the Linksys or the wireless card in your computer.
First check the wireless settings in the Linksys, ie. the SSID and encryption key.
Second check the wireless settings in the computer's wireless card, this must match the route's wireless settings. If it matched then do a Repair connection. this will get the Linksys to issue a new IP address to the wireless card.computer.
If the Linksys wireless settings were changed then configure the wireless card in the computer with these new settings.

goto device manager and unistall device

you may alway contact the manufacturer of your router for help. the reason wy you are getting the problem is because the wireless settings of your computer and router do not match.

• hard wire the laptop to the router, which reestablishes the connection.
• set the connection to be wireless
• follow the prompts and you will soon be wireless again

do you have security enabled on the wireless router?
if so, disable to security and see if you can connect.
if it works, check if you set the router security to use WPA2- it is possible that your laptop/wireless card doesn't support it- try to use WPA instead

Reset the router using the little reset button on the back. (Hold for a few seconds) It should be able to connect using default settings. Then you can log on and configure it with your router. Go to http://192.168.1.1 and you can set up your security and port forwarding if needed. (I recommend WPA or WPA2 for security, as I have cracked WEP passwords myself using brute force.) Let me know how this works out. If it doesn't work, I need more info such as your wireless network card model.

It is possible that your windows update messed up the Linksys drivers. If your pc is xp, download the latest drivers from www.linksys.com/download. uninstall the wpc54g on the add/remove programs.

if using XP, reinstall drivers only, no need to install the linksys software. This would be best if you install the drivers manually. After this you will be using only the WINDOWS UTILITY for your wireless connection.
