Your memory card has a little switch on the side of it called the Write Protect Switch. If it is in the Locked position, the camera will tell you the memory card is protected. Just take the memory card out and slide the switch to the unlocked position. You should be able to take pictuers now.

Purchased SD 8 mg for my coolpix 4800. Message"canno use this card"

First of all, did you format it in the camera? If you don't know how, see page 98 of the Coolpix 4800 manual by following this link: http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/coolpix/CP4800_en.pdf.

I would also check the write protect tab on the SC card (Look on page 11 in the manual). If it is in the wrong position, your camera will not be able to write to the card and that could account for the message.

Another possibility is that you have an incomparable SD card. According to page 101 of the manual, the smallest cards listed are 16MB and yours is 8MB. I doubt that it would be a problem though.

Flash memory technology has advanced since your camera was made. It is a SLIGHT possibility that you bought an SDSC or SDXC card for your camera. These newer card types may be too fast for your camera.

Nikon coolpix p100 photo download shuts of pc

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa or NIkon Transfer.

Memory card is write protected as my nikon coolpix screen shows and no any option is getting for picture click

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I have two problems: 1) how do i transfer pictures from internal memory to memory card? this is from a nikon coolpix s200 camera. it was just given to me without the usb cable and the driver. 2) can i...

1) There's a "Copy" entry in the playback menu that will let you copy pictures between the internal memory and the memory card. Display the playback menu by pressing Playback (the right-pointing triangle) and then MENU. In my copy of the manual, it's on page 94.

2) Consider NOT using a driver at all. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

I have a nikon coolpix s60 and when i go to view the pictures, the screen turns black and i cant turn the camera off unless i pull the battery

What name brand memory card do you use? I recently discovered myself that Nikon only supports SanDisk, Toshiba, Panasonic and Lexar. Try taking out the memory card and take pictures without the memory card inside the camera. If you can view the picture saved onto the camera memory then you will know that all you need is a new memory card, with one of the above mentioned name brands. Hope this helps.

WHEN I INSERT CARD, CAMERA SAID CAN NOT BE USED.

the 4800 is a older model that won't support a sdhc card-go back to 2gb or smaller and problem solved-don't waste money on high speed cards for a basic point and shoot camera
