This is an indication that your computer has so many dust build up inside, CPU or the processor generates heat, even when in start up mode, when the heat doesn't dissipates somehow, there is a protection that will shut off electrical circuits to prevent further damaged to your whole computer.
that is why it is shutting by itself automatically. chances are there is a lot of obstruction in the cooling system, particularly the heat sink.
you need to send this to a technician, im afraid
hope this helps

HOW TO GET THE BACK OFF

Break it off..........

In order to take the Base Enclosure (Bottom Cover) off, you would have to break it off.

The Acer Aspire 5000 series of Notebook PC's, disassembles from the Top down. When you are done you are looking at an empty Base Enclosure,

You have to;
Remove ALL power. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Remove the Harddrive Compartment Cover, Harddrive, Memory Compartment Cover, Ram Memory, Wireless Module, Wireless Antenna wires out of laptop body, Optical Disk Drive, (DVD drive), Display Assembly, (LCD Module), Keyboard Cover, Keyboard, Palm Rest Cover, Motherboard, and so on..........

Then you have the Base Enclosure. (Bottom Cover)

WEAR an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source.

How do I get into safemode on my acer aspire desktop

1 Restart the Acer Aspire netbook by pressing the "power" button on the netbook's keyboard or by pressing the "CTRL," "ALT" and "DEL" keys at the same time. 2 During startup, hold down the "F8" function key immediately when you see the "Acer" splash screen and the option for entering "Setup." 3 Keep pressing the "F8" key until the "Advanced Boot Options" menu appears. If you receive a "keyboard error," restart the Acer Aspire and repeat step 2. 4 Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Safe Mode" selection on the "Advanced Boot Options" menu. The arrow keys are located on the right-hand side of the Acer Aspire keyboard. 5 Press the "Enter" key to execute the "Safe Mode" selection. The Windows operating system will now start in "Safe Mode" and you can perform a system restore or make needed changes to get your Acer Aspire to boot normally again. When I startup my laptop it goes straight to Arcade Deluxe how do I get back to windows

Per these pages:
http://www.theacerguy.com/forum/topic/quit-acer-arcade-deluxe
http://www.theacerguy.com/forum/topic/acer-arcade-deluxe-loading-on-startup-cant-get-to-windows
This one even tells you how to disable it in windows start up.
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182345

it says to make sure "HOLD" button is not turned on when shuting laptop down otherwise it will do what yours is doing. They are also talking about going in to safe mode and taking it out of start up. Just read the posts and you might be able to get rid of it. The one i found was towards the bottom.

Good luck.

My acer computer keeps shuting itself down

Try tapping F8 at startup, and from the list of startup selections, select Safe Mode by using UP Arrow Key to go there > then hit Enter.

Try a System Restore once there, to pick a Restore Point before your problem..

Click Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > pick a time previous to last update > Next > etc

Sounds like your battery is faulty and not charging. Try replacing the battery or just use the mains lead with the battery removed. If this keeps happening replace the system board

My acer aspire 5000 overheats and shuts down frequently. is there a solution for this?

either it has a temp protection set on bios.....and its shuts down when it reach on that temperature ....( i mean the CPU ) ..in this case just go to bios set-up ...on boot by pressing del and remove any temperature limits if it has ...or try also to restore the default (manufacturer settings) from there ..if you arent able to locate that temp cpu limitator
if after this it still does that ..it means that your cooler either do not work anymore ...but inthis case the shuting down should be almost imediate after boot...either do not work proper...and it needs to be replaced...
but my money will be on the top temperature seting from Bios...and it is shuting down auto when get to that temp ..
good luck !

Hi from london, have new acer aspire 1 zg5 new keeps shutting down after boot can u hlp pls?

Try booting the system to Safe mode.

To boot to safe mode:
Restart the computer. As soon as the BIOS has finished loading, keep tapping on F8 key on your keyboard. When the Windows Options menu appears select the "Safe mode" then press Enter.

Once you managed to boot to Safe mode, change the computer startup and recovery settings by right-clicking "My Computer" then select Properties. Select Advanced tab. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. Uncheck the box for "Automatically restart" under System Failure.

Reboot again normally, see if it will reboot again by itself. If you managed to make the system boot normally, proceed to Events Viewer to find out what is the caused.

If the system failed to boot normally after doing the above, you might want to boot the system to "Last known good configuration"
